Job Title: Director, Applied Research, Innovation and Economic Development

University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) is a leading institution in Qatar, offering applied degrees and certificates in various fields. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our applied research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the Applied Research, Innovation and Economic Development (ARI&ED) business plan in alignment with UDST's strategy.
  • Coordinate and manage research initiatives, projects, and innovation and technology transfer activities.
  • Identify and secure research funding opportunities and support the UDST research community.
  • Act as a liaison between UDST and Qatar's government, industry, and other sectors to foster relationships and solve local community and industry problems.
  • Promote student involvement in research activities and develop student research skills and workplace readiness.
  • Administer research projects and contracts to ensure fiscal responsibility and timely delivery of results.
  • Communicate the accomplishments of applied research activities through seminars, publications, and news.
  • Plan, coordinate, and document the applied research activities of employees and students.
  • Manage the organization and vetting of research proposals and allocation of Applied Research funds.
  • Assist researchers in preparing and managing budgets and liaise with external funding agencies.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Business, or Health Sciences is required.
  • An earned doctorate in an appropriate field is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar leadership position at a university or college campus undergoing rapid growth and development.
  • Minimum 5 years in a managerial position is preferred.
  • Distinguished record of applied research and publications in international recognized journals.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English language is required.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic language is preferred.
