Role and Responsibilities

The Accountant/Accounts Executive at Oryx Universal College will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and supporting the Finance Department's operations. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks efficiently, work collaboratively, and uphold the financial integrity of the college.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Record-Keeping
  • Accurately record and report financial transactions.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure that all financial records are up-to-date.
Reporting and Analysis
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Analyse financial data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and organisational policies.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with financial transactions.
Other Duties
  • Support the Chief Accountant with ad hoc tasks and special projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial advice and resolve queries.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or CPA is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in an academic or higher education setting.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English, both written and verbal. Fluency in Arabic is an added advantage.
  • Technical Proficiency
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Interpersonal Skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
