Role Objective:

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the Trade finance product portfolio, throughout the product lifecycle, from planning to execution in support of the functional / corporate strategies. The incumbent will manage cross-functional product development and management efforts of value-added trade finance products and services including Imports, Exports & Guarantees & Receivable Finance as well as digital products, for the corporate client segment, in line with the regulatory guidelines, and internal policies.

Roles & Responsibilities:

STRATEGIC

  • Contribute towards the formulation and implementation of the Global Transaction Banking & Innovation strategy, business plans, policies / procedures with respect to the Trade finance client segment, to support the overall functional and organizational business strategy.
  • Ensure that the business plans are within agreed budgets and timescales. Provide timely, accurate and complete progress reports to the Department Head - Global Transaction Banking & Innovation.
  • Update self on the current industry trends, economic events, regulatory requirements/changes set by QCB and other relevant government bodies, and suggest adequate changes pertaining to deliverables.

OPERATIONAL

  • Manage the development and delivery of new, and management of existing Trade finance Products including Imports, Exports & Guarantees & Receivable Finance as well as digital products, ensuring participation and buy-in from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform the research and analysis efforts, furthering the identification and analysis of current and target marketplace tendencies and competitors in terms of the various products, based on business and product performance, and market trends, changing client requirements and corporate objectives.
  • Work cross-functionally with the respective stakeholders, as applicable, in digital product development, enhancement, product bundling capabilities, and drive the commercialization process, from concept inception to market launch.
  • Work closely with the respective Business Units to ascertain requirements and gaps in the respective market segments within the local and overseas Trade finance market.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, evaluate the effects of new product development or amendments, and prepare the proposals for the respective regulatory authority review and approval, prior to implementation.
  • Contribute towards the implementation of efficient client retention and anti-attrition strategies, in support of the business development efforts across different Business Units and regions.
  • Liaise with the operational functions and Quality Control section to ensure that the operational framework is working effectively in line with client requirements, for better client experience.
  • Monitor and report on the progress pertaining to various Trade finance Products across Business Units, ensuring all performance standards are met in terms of the business targets, controls, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Work closely with the Business Units and other relevant stakeholders, in profile-based segmentation to support cross sales efforts, through appropriate value proposition around scalable solutions.
  • Liaise with the Business Units, Business Management and Quality Control & Follow Up, Client Management & Implementation team in continuous identification and analysis of client needs, challenges and competitive insights for leveraging the Trade finance business.
  • Identify and promote continuous engagement or alliances with Industry partners and business partnerships to complement consistent growth or develop opportunities of digital products in existing and new markets.
  • Capitalize on digital infrastructure and technology-driven capabilities within the Trade finance product segment to support business enhancement efforts.
  • Liaise with the IT department and other relevant stakeholders, throughout the product development lifecycle and regular testing to ensure operational efficiency and release of new standards or system installations, integrations or upgrades.

Qualification and Experience Required:

  • Degree in Business Administration with specialization in Banking, Finance, Marketing or any other related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Master's degree in Management or any other related discipline.
  • 10-15 years of total experience in financial services or banking industry, entailing responsibilities pertaining to the specific area of discipline.
  • Experience in Trade finance product management or product development role with a strong understanding of the global banking industry and best practices.
  • Experience in technology and/or digital strategy, commercial strategy at a technology firm or digital arm of a financial services organization, catering to corporate clients.
  • Proven experience in program management within emerging digital landscapes in consulting area will be an added advantage.

Certifications:

  • Certificate from top tier university in Product Management, Fintech, Digital Strategy domain will be an added advantage.
  • Project management certification will be an added advantage.
