About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Banquet Operations Supervisor to join our team at Mandarin Oriental, Doha.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Assistant Manager in all operational and administrative aspects of Banqueting Operations, ensuring a smooth day-to-day operation and taking charge of the department in their absence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Manager to maintain a seamless synergy between Banqueting operations and all other Food and Beverage outlets.
  • Work closely with the Culinary team to coordinate service flow, timings, and set-ups for all events, including coffee breaks, buffets, set menus, cocktail receptions, and other events as required.
  • Develop and maintain detailed overviews of all banquet venues, working closely with the Assistant Manager and Director of Banquets to determine possible layouts, set-ups, and floor plans.
  • Ensure all venues are fully set, including lighting, music, decoration, and other details, at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
  • Verify the accuracy of all printed materials, menus, and buffet tags for every event, ensuring they are current, spelled correctly, clean, and presentable.
  • Assist the Banquet Manager and Assistant Manager in observing all aspects of the business forecast and planning equipment and supplies accordingly, maintaining access to resources of casual labor and ensuring high-quality labor is available at all times.
Requirements
  • Experience as a Supervisor in a banquet operation with high levels of service is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a 5-star hotel environment.
  • Ability to understand guest needs and deliver superior customer service.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale and cashiering procedures is preferred.
  • Ability to perform the job with attention to detail and organize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of Banquet service procedures and standards.
  • Ability to understand the flow of service and support colleagues.
  • Proven ability to successfully support management in motivating and leading a diverse team.
