About this role

This position is a key member of the construction team, responsible for ensuring that piping fabrication and installation activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Safety and Quality: Ensure that all piping work is carried out in accordance with project safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
  2. Project Management: Work effectively within established policies and procedures, and participate in the further development of these to meet changing needs.
  3. Tight Deadlines: Manage large capital expenditure projects in a highly dynamic team environment with tight deadlines, high pressure, and visibility, requiring accuracy, initiative, and the ability to multi-task.
  4. Task Adaptability: Demonstrate willingness to tackle a variety of tasks in response to evolving business needs.
  5. Review and Monitoring: Review construction sequence, work plans, pre-task planning, and method statements to ensure comprehensive safety and feasibility.
  6. Site Activities: Provide company representation in monitoring and coordinating site activities of the pioneer camp/EPC contractor and its subcontractors. Report on construction activities, progress, areas of concern, and mitigating actions.
  7. SHE Programs: Monitor and assist the pioneer camp/EPC contractor and subcontractors in implementing site-specific SHE programs to meet safety improvement strategy and objectives, emergency response, and evacuation drill programs.
  8. Permit to Work: Ensure that construction work is carried out in accordance with rules, regulations, and standards and permit to work procedures as applicable.
  9. Contract Compliance: Review work and inspection results to ensure compliance with EPC contract requirements. Interface and coordinate with field engineering and QA/QC sections.
  10. Change Order Requests: Report and record potential change order requests to assist in claims avoidance.
  11. Punch List Clearing: Attend PMC and completions meetings to provide assistance in mechanical completion, punch list clearing, commissioning, and start-up activities as required, facilitating construction deliverables for these activities.
  12. Construction Overview: Maintain construction focus and overview of piping fabrication and installation supporting priority completions schedules.
  13. Metrics Development: Work with construction superintendents and engineers to develop and maintain overall construction and completion metrics to track PMC/completions construction deliverables.
  14. Expectations Meeting: Assist PMT in meeting expectations as required.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Good written and verbal English language communication skills.
  3. Good technical team skills.
  4. Minimum of ten years' experience primarily in construction of oil & gas facilities with international experience, especially Qatar or the Middle East, preferred.
  5. Able to work moderately complex tasks to completion within time constraints of the project, with minimal guidance from more experienced staff.
  6. Participates in the resolution of problems in more demanding and less familiar situations using precedent and own acquired knowledge.
  7. Able to work within a defined role with limited supervision.
  8. Able to make decisions and solve problems related to a specific discipline/field.
  9. Responsible for own work product with minimal guidance and oversight from immediate supervisor.
  10. Establishes credibility with peers and supervisors and makes good use of their time.
