About the Role

The Workplace Safety Strategist will be responsible for conducting risk assessments to identify potential Occupational Health hazards and developing strategies to mitigate them. They will also provide training and support to employees on Occupational Health best practices and protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Assessments: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential Occupational Health hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to employees on Occupational Health best practices and protocols.
  • Standard Development: Develop and implement effective standards and procedures to mitigate Occupational Health risks across the organization.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that Occupational Health risks are mitigated to a level that is As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).

Requirements

  • Certification or Training: International certification or training in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, (e.g.: NEBOSH IGC in Occupational Health and Safety, Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 15 years of relevant working experience in Occupational Health is required.
  • Industry Experience: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the oil and gas (O&G) industry or petrochemical industry is required.
  • Expert Knowledge: Expert knowledge of the concepts, theories, and practices of Occupational Health management and medical emergency management is required.
  • International Regulations: Expert knowledge of international regulations, mandatory regulations, standards and best industry practices relating to Occupational Health is required.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both in terms of leading and motivating teams, as well as engagement with strategic stakeholders) are required.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills and ability to recognize trends, assess risks and identify root causes are required.
  • Educational Background: Full time (BSc) in Health Sciences (Occupational Health, Public Health, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene), Applied Social Sciences or related discipline is required.
