Job Description:

Overview: The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) is a leading institution in Qatar, offering a range of applied programs in fields such as Engineering Technology, Business Management, and Health Sciences. The College of Engineering and Technology at UDST invites applications for the position of Chemical Laboratory Technician.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver courses within the Chemical Engineering program, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for students.
  2. Evaluate student progress and manage resources to optimize the learning environment.
  3. Liaise with industry partners and other educational institutions to enhance the program's relevance and impact.
  4. Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including tracking stock, replenishing supplies, and conducting regular audits.
  5. Procurement Coordination: Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely acquisition of materials and equipment needed for academic and research activities.
  6. Warehousing and Storage: Manage the organization and layout of storage facilities to optimize space utilization and accessibility.
  7. Logistics Planning: Develop and implement logistics plans and schedules to support the operational needs of various departments and projects.
  8. Prepare and deliver lessons to encourage student involvement and alignment with the Institution's Academic Quality Framework.
  9. Demonstrate to students and monitor student work in a laboratory setting closely related to a work situation.
  10. Assist in ensuring that laboratory equipment and materials are available and appropriately prepared for instructional delivery.
  11. Maintain health and safety during laboratory or workshop activities.
  12. Support the program curriculum committee with the maintenance of course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes.
  13. Attend faculty, staff, course, and program meetings and participate in initiatives to monitor and enhance student learning development.
  14. Support the faculty in marking students' papers and exams.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years full-time teaching experience in an educational institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of educational technology and platforms.
  • Commitment to applied and experiential learning as a pedagogy.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative and collegial spirit.
