Roles and responsibilities

1. Planning and Delivering Lessons

  • Develop well-structured and engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards.
  • Deliver lessons in various humanities subjects (e.g., History, Geography, Religious Studies, Sociology) that are interactive, stimulating, and relevant to students.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources (e.g., debates, case studies, documentaries, interactive activities) to engage students with diverse learning styles.
  • Ensure that lessons are differentiated to meet the needs of all students, including those with additional learning needs or varying levels of understanding.

2. Assessment and Tracking Progress

  • Regularly assess students' academic progress using a variety of formative and summative assessments (e.g., quizzes, essays, group projects, exams).
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on students' work to help them improve their knowledge, understanding, and skills.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, identifying areas where students need additional support and implementing interventions as necessary.
  • Prepare students for external exams (e.g., GCSEs, A-Levels) and assessments, helping them develop effective revision techniques.

3. Classroom Management

  • Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment where students feel confident to express ideas, ask questions, and engage in discussions.
  • Establish clear expectations for behavior and classroom rules, promoting respect and responsibility.
  • Use effective behavior management techniques to ensure a focused and productive learning environment.
Desired candidate profile

An educational degree, such as Bachelor's in Education Degree or related field.
A certified teaching qualification such PGCE, QTS with an Induction Certificate or equivalent (the PGCE must be accompanied by a subject relevant Bachelor's Degree)
Minimum two years of teaching experience (international experience is an advantage but not required)
Exceptional subject knowledge, with extensive experience of teaching the British National Curriculum in every key stage.
A passion for fostering a student-centered learning environment.
A commitment to professional growth and a collaborative approach to teaching.
A proven track record of providing outstanding teaching and learning.
A commitment to actively participate in extracurricular activities after school hours.
Supporting Individual Learning Needs
Identify students who need additional support or enrichment and tailor lessons to meet their specific needs, including those with special educational needs (SEN), EAL (English as an Additional Language) learners, or gifted and talented students.
Offer one-on-one support or differentiated tasks to ensure that all students are able to access the content and make progress.
Provide guidance and mentorship for students, particularly those who may struggle with the material or face personal challenges.
