The Office of Academic Services (OAS) at Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) is a dynamic academic support unit providing a variety of programs and services to enhance learning for all students at GU-Q. OAS offers individual and group tutoring in academic reading and writing across the disciplines; Arabic as a heritage or foreign language; French as foreign language; and economics. In addition, OAS leads a variety of workshops and programs throughout the year to help students develop their academic skills and aspire to excellence.

OAS is currently seeking an education professional to serve as a part-time Learning and Accessibility Specialist, with responsibility for ensuring equitable access and inclusion of students with disabilities and learning differences at Georgetown.

**Responsibilities**:

- Implement academic accommodations as determined by Student Wellness and Counseling Center to meet the needs of students with disabilities, learning differences, or chronic health conditions aligned with U.S. laws protecting the rights of people with disabilities
- Onboard and orient new students with disabilities about accommodations and the processes for receiving disabilities support through OAS
- Provide one-on-one assistance to students, including training students to use assistive technology
- Communicate and make arrangements with faculty and relevant staff to meet student learning needs
- Collaborate with university faculty and academic services staff to prepare course materials in accessible formats
- Advise and/or assist faculty and university staff with the conversion or creation of alternative and accessible formats of class materials
- Collaborate with OAS team members on academic success programming
- Maintain the client management system used by students, faculty, and staff for enrollment and managing accommodations like note taking and alternative testing
- Provide administrative support such as printing or scanning documents
- Provide guidance to various stakeholders on the use of assistive technology and learning strategies
- Arrange alternative testing with students and faculty, proctor exams as needed
- Design and deliver programs to promote the use of the Universal Design for Learning framework
- Participate in relevant training sessions and meetings
- Other similar duties as assigned

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline required, Master's degree preferred
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in education or disabilities services
- Superior academic performance and/or engagement as an undergraduate student
- Previous experience working with undergraduate students as a tutor, teaching assistant, learning specialist, or advisor preferred
- Knowledge of disabilities services, accessibility, assistive technology, learning differences, learning strategies
- Proficiency and familiarity with Learning Management Systems like Blackboard and Canvas
- Familiarity with screen reading, text-to-speech, captioning, reading software and add-on features
- Knowledge of eBooks, audio books, settings, and tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Adobe, including assistive technology features
- Excellent keyboarding skills, knowledge of typing, keystrokes, and shortcuts
- Appreciation for equity, uniqueness of the individual, and a commitment to collaborative problem solving
