The Specialist in Emergency Medicine is responsible for delivering high-quality, timely care for patients presenting with a wide spectrum of acute illnesses and injuries. Working in a fast-paced environment, the physician will diagnose, manage, and treat life-threatening conditions while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Clinical Care**:

- Provide prompt and comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients in the emergency department (ED).
- Manage medical emergencies including trauma, cardiovascular incidents, respiratory distress, and other acute illnesses.
- **Collaboration & Coordination**:

- Work in conjunction with trauma teams, nursing staff, radiologists, and specialists to ensure rapid and effective patient stabilization and treatment.
- Coordinate referrals to other departments or levels of care as needed.
- **Procedural Competence**:

- Perform emergency procedures such as intubations, central line placements, wound management, and other critical interventions with proficiency and precision.
- **Leadership & Training**:

- Mentor and provide guidance to residents, interns, and ED staff.
- Lead or participate in emergency department rounds, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
- **Documentation & Compliance**:

- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and adhere to established clinical protocols and safety standards.
- **Continuing Education**:

- Stay current with advances in emergency medicine through continuing medical education (CME) and participation in professional conferences.
- Contribute to departmental educational activities and research initiatives as appropriate.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- A specialty degree in the relevant field, 3 years of post-specialty experience in a governmental, semi-governmental, or teaching hospital
- Board certification or equivalent qualification in Emergency Medicine.
- Minimum 5 years post of experience in Emergency Medicine, preferably in a clinical setting.
- Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); additional certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is an asset.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
