**Major Duties & Responsibilities of Protection Engineer**
- Inspection of Substation, Protection Systems, Transmission lines (Overhead lines and Cables) prior to commissioning and identifying defects and noncompliance with KAHRAMAA specification
- Confirm all major defects are rectified before commissioning
- Witness all major pre-commissioning activities
- Prepare commissioning programs
- Carry out switching activity and commission the substation safely
- Issue necessary safety documents
- Verification and approval of drawing submittals, site test reports, method statements, schematics and spare parts
- Confirm NOSP submitted meets all KAHRAMAA requirements
- Upload Substation data in appropriate network
- Carry out inspections related to Defect clearance, Taking over certificate, Final completion certificate
- Co-ordination with contractors and consultants and KAHRAMAA departments for all commissioning activities
- Operation and Maintenance of Substation equipment, Protection system and Transmission Overhead lines and Cables
- Carry out maintenance and troubleshooting activities
- Downloading the disturbance records from the relays, reviewing & analysing each faults/tripping and advise the system control for the fast & safe restoration of the tripped circuits
- Takes decisions at site for modifications, changing of relay settings etc. on emergency conditions in consultation with Senior Engineer
- Carries out fault analysis and relay settings calculations
- Conducts technical evaluation of all materials used for 400kV/ 220kV/ 132kV/ 66kV/ 33kV Cable / OHL, to ensure compliance to international standards and internal quality standards
- Ensure Substation and Transmission Line construction and commissioning tests are carried out as per KAHRAMAA specification
- Reviews and comments on draft As-built drawings, Operation and Maintenance Manuals submitted by Contractors/ Manufacturers
- Attend standby calls
- Performs other related duties as needed upon request / instruction by the immediate supervisor
- Should be able to travel extensively within the state of Qatar
- Should work in compliance with KAHRAMAA safety rules

Should have valid Qatar driving license

**Qualification & Experience**
- Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputed university
- Experience: Should be well versed about Transmission Protection with at least 7 years’ relevant experience in maintenance, switching and commissioning activities of Protection system in substations up to 400kV
- Good knowledge about international standards and KAHRAMAA standards and practices
- Good experience in O&M and execution of Transmission Substation Projects and Commissioning
- Should have working experience in Digital Protection with relevant relay software and familiar with Substation Control systems.
- Good interpersonal skills and maturity of judgment
- Fluent in English correspondence. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Computer literate and presentation skill
- Requires mobile communication during normal and outside office hours for emergency contact.
