About the role

We are recruiting for Manager Safety and Improvement to be based in Doha, Qatar.

Manager Safety and Improvement will support a safety and just culture within Technical Division which is extension of corporate QR safety policy whereby developing a trust between Management and the workforce. This with overall objective to reduce systemic organisational and human induced errors by ensuring all reported technical occurrences are risk assessed and root cause established to prevent recurrences. Manage an open and penalty free reporting system which includes internal, mandatory and confidential reporting elements amongst all technical staff and manage on a daily basis on behalf of VP-QA&S.Report safety concerns and non compliances observed through occurrences trend analysis in Technical Safety Action Group (TSAG) and other safety forums for Technical management awareness and actions(s).Responsible for managing all technical investigations based on technical events in a professional and timely manner to prevent recurrences in Qatar Airways and Customer’s Aircraft to satisfy applicable requirements of Civil Aviation Authorities and IOSA

Specific responsibilities of the role include:
Strategic

Manages a strategic action plan and provide feedback to VP-QA&S with objective to support the Technical safety management system inTechnical Division to achieve a more open and just culture.

Reviews the Safety Management database to review all Technical related occurrences ensuring that they are actioned accordingly based on risk assessment process. Occurrence which are identified to be investigated by QA are investigated in a timely manner with correct root cause and contributing factors identified and making appropriate recommendations as necessary to prevent reoccurrence.

Manages mandatory reporting to civil aviation authorities as per requirements on behalf of VP-QA&S.

Responsible for the management and continuous development and improvement of Quality Assurance management Information System module related to SMS functions.

Promotes Safety and Human Factors awareness in conjunction with VP-QA&S through coaching, training and open forums, including awareness from internal incidents.

Operational

Carry out all necessary actions to maintain an active internal and external occurrence reporting system to be in compliance with QCAA/EASA regulations and IOSA and ICAO requirements and report any abnormal issue to QA management as part of ongoing Quality Assurance functions.

Carry out efficient investigations for accident/incident to address the root cause to prevent its recurrences to minimize the impact on cost and company image.

Follow up and verify the implementation of recommendations of all investigations/MEDA reports to enhance safety and minimize the cost due accidents/incidents.

Reviews technical Occurrences / Safety / Investigation related queries from other sections/ department or companies and report recommendations to QA management to ensure highest standards are maintained at all times.

Review of technical investigation reports to ensure all data and root causes are clearly identified and set proper recommendations.

Provides Feedback to QA management on all investigation issues that need to be addressed and communicated internally or externally (Customers and Authorities) to ensure all regulatory and customer requirements are met at all times.

Ensures compliance of SMS requirements within Techncal department to ensure regulatory compliance

Ensures occurrence data analysis is done to satisfy all regulatory requirement

Ensures hazards are identified and rectified at all times.

Leads the business and recommends strategies for safety risk management, hazard identification and safety risk assessment processes as a core pillar of Safety Management System (SMS).

Provides compelling advice, and propose and facilitate implementation of strategies for continuous improvement to the Technical Safety Management System necessary to achieve and exceed regulatory compliance.

Assists VP-QA&S in managing the Technical Safety Action Forum and provide required data for Technical management to attend Group Safety Forum.

Reviews applicable regulatory updates and recommend changes to company procedures / documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements at all times.

Performs other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department
