**Job Summary**:
The Senior Restaurant Steward is responsible for managing the overall cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of the restaurant's front and back-of-house operations. This role involves supervising and leading the stewarding team, ensuring proper sanitation practices, coordinating equipment maintenance, and optimizing inventory management. The Senior Restaurant Steward collaborates with various departments to maintain a seamless flow of operations and uphold high cleanliness and hygiene standards.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Team Management**: Supervise and train the stewarding team, including dishwashers, porters, and janitors, ensuring their productivity, adherence to policies, and professional development.
- **Sanitation and Hygiene**: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations by implementing and enforcing proper sanitation practices, including dishwashing, waste disposal, and cleaning protocols.
- **Equipment Maintenance**: Coordinate and monitor the maintenance, repair, and replacement of restaurant equipment, including dishwashing machines, cleaning tools, and other related equipment, to ensure smooth operations.
- **Inventory Management**: Oversee the inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and other stewarding materials, ensuring adequate stock levels, minimizing waste, and controlling costs.
- **Operational Support**: Collaborate with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to maintain a seamless flow of operations, providing timely support for dishwashing, restocking, and other back-of-house needs.
- **Quality Control**: Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are met, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- **Waste Management**: Develop and enforce efficient waste management procedures, including recycling and composting initiatives, to minimize environmental impact and maintain a sustainable approach.
- **Training and Development**: Provide training to stewarding team members on proper cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and equipment operation, fostering a skilled and knowledgeable workforce.
- **Budgeting and Cost Control**: Assist in monitoring and controlling stewarding-related expenses, such as labor costs, supplies, and equipment, to ensure adherence to the allocated budget.
- **Collaboration**: Collaborate with other department heads and managers to address operational needs, resolve issues, and foster effective teamwork.

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience in a supervisory role in stewarding or related field within the hospitality industry is preferred.
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of sanitation practices, health and safety regulations, and proper handling of cleaning chemicals in a food service environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, management, and external vendors.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are consistently met.
- Ability to identify and resolve operational issues promptly and efficiently.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- A positive and proactive approach to work, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
