Qatar Airways is currently recruiting for Uniforms Design Specialist for Group Uniforms Department.

Responsible for the design of new uniforms including maintaining and improving current uniform designs through keeping ahead of industry innovations. Managing the design process from conception through evaluation to final approval ensuring alignment with QR policies and procedures. Conducting market research to identify new trends, fabrics and seek functional design inspiration.

Specific responsibilities of the role include:
Current Uniform Specification Maintenance
- Create and maintain all technical product specifications for uniform scope organized in an easily accessible database for recording purposes restricted to required people only.
- Ensure all products are in line with company standards working with the Quality Team to monitor and understand product defects, which may have a relation to design, and rectifying these defects where needed.
- Oversee and analyze periodically all product feedback received from stakeholder engagement meetings as well as product returns to review product improvements along with the Quality Control Team
- Create fitting guidelines for all uniform scope in conjunction with the Service Delivery Team to maintain consistently fitting uniforms.

New Uniform Design
- Develop uniform designs in line with the stakeholder brief to ensure a coherent, functional product in agreement with business strategy.
- Prepare for design meetings for approval of designs by present design concepts to stakeholders through use of design storyboards, physical samples etc.
- Manage design process from conception through to final approval ensuring all formalities and approvals are documented and fully completed.
- Review all fabrications and trims to ensure functionality and durability, arranging testing where necessary and analyzing the results to ensure product is fit for use.

Projects I Product Analysis / Data Libraries
- Maintain product / fabric libraries and data capturing in accordance to the Standard Operating Procedure.
- Oversees all product trials from start to finish comprising of planning, creation of trial questionnaire and data analysis and conclusion with recommendation.
- Responsible to raise all Request for Information (RFI) to gather information from suppliers for new product/projects.
- Create and maintain a product catalogue for Group Uniform Department scope complete with product details
- Participate in Technical Evaluations of all product Tenders and Request for Quotation in relation to company policy
- Manage all Pre-production sample reviews and comments sent to suppliers in conjunction with the Quality Team to ensure correct product
- Conduct periodic market research and competitor analysis and bench marching for all products to ensure Qatar Airways are in line with current market trends.

Product Sample Room
- Implement the design of the Product Sample Room inclusive of the internal layout design, shelving plan, register of movement of samples, identification of different types of samples such as Tender sample, submission sample, approved reference sample, pre-production sample, size set samples and shipment samples to ensure correct recording and reference
- Manage the sample room to ensure it is maintained as per the plan and access is limited to preserve samples.
- Arrange and carry out periodic sample counts in conjunction with Quality Control Team to ensure all records are maintained correctly and there is no variance.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent with 4 years job related experience.
- High school or Vocational qualification with minimum 5 years job related experience.
- Background as Garment Designer - Uniforms, Work wear or Fashion.
- Experience in CAD drawing using Adobe illustrator and Photoshop.
- Knowledge in garment construction and technical aspects to create product specifications.
- Superior Knowledge of design
- Excellent creativity with a good sense of functional design
- In-depth knowledge of garment technology
- Ability to create, cut and sew-up patterns
