Head of Collection Management

Key Accountabilities:
Role Purpose

Directly manages and oversees the QM Public Art collection in accordance with the International Council of Museums - Committee for Conservation Code of Conduct.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Collection Care and Management:

- responsible for ensuring the preservation and care of QM PA objects in accordance with the International Council of Museums - Committee for Conservation Code of Conduct.
- Responsible for ensuring correct cataloguing and documentation of the collection and maintenance of the database.
- Provide training, supervision, and mentoring for staff and interns performing related work.
- Manages all aspects of collections care, following and implementing accepted museum professional standards and practices.
- Establish object conservation priorities and plan/ implement the safe storage and display of all works in the collection.
- Administers loan agreements and ensures adherence to established policies.
- Project Management:

- Managing and assisting in special projects within QM PA Department including overall project management to ensure correct execution and completion of projects.
- Act as the key focal point for assigned projects, engaging in cross-departmental collaboration, and liaising with artists, galleries, fabricators, contractors, transport and shipping agents as necessary.
- Project management including writing Scope of Works, creating and monitoring budget plans, preparing legal documents, draft contracts, loans, tender documents, insurance, publications, presentations, briefs, and monitoring of procurement procedures for projects.
- Ensure a high-level of collaboration across relevant departments in QM.
- Manage all associated contracts, budgets and timelines for each project.
- Manage interpretation materials with PA curator, design team and Marketing, including content for media and communications platforms.
- Lease with relevant QM departments for all aspects of loan logistics and procedures including transport, couriers, insurance, and working in compliance with QM policies and procedures.
- Schedule and manage the installation and dismantling of each project, including managing shipments and overseeing the movement of loans in collaboration with relevant QM departments.
- Responsible for monitoring maintenance, security, and safety training for projects, in liaison with relevant QM departments.

Communication Level:
The head of Collection management will have direct communication with:

- Public art director.
- Head of Shared Services.
- Head of Curatorial Planning.
- Head of Project Management.
- Legal department and external suppliers.
- May be involved in communication with the ACQ department, procurement, and/or any other centralized department if needed.

Financial Budgetary Control:
The head of Collection Management needs to:

- Plan a yearly budget for the section.
- Review and maintain budget expenditures for his/her section.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Qualifications/Requirements:

- Knowledge of project management best practices including project scoping and budgeting, resourcing, delivery methodologies and communication.
- Knowledge of conservation methods and Collection management.
- Knowledge of Risk Management and mitigation methodologies.
- Strong professional interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven professional experience of managing a museum collection and project management.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Fluency in English, Arabic desirable.
- Computer literacy, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop.

Education, Experience, and certification requirements
- Master’s Degree (preferably in related field such as Museum Studies, History of Art, Fine Art, Project Management,).
- Minimum 5-years of experience in a similar role within the Museums/ Art sector.
