- OVERVIEW/BASIC FUNCTION:
- Participate in the preventive maintenance program of all-building equipment and rooms. Supervise, train, and inspect the performance of engineering associates ensuring that all procedures are completed to the hotel's standards. Work closely with Director of Engineering in scheduling work and setting priorities. Also make decisions in the absence of Director of Engineering and act as the backup for calls when there are emergencies.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
- Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended.
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
- Act in capacity of Director of Engineering during his/her absence.
- Inspect supply levels, cleanliness and organization of storage areas; assign designated personnel to rectify any deficiencies.
- Conduct weekly inventory on equipment and supplies; prepare requisitions for reordering of shortages.
- Implement methods and techniques, which are cost effective to improve efficiency.
- Pre-plan and order materials for special projects; coordinate scheduling with department heads to eliminate conflict.
- Conduct building rounds and take gauge readings; check for potential fire hazards, burnt out lights, and faulty equipment.
- Check Engineering Logbook and Night Report for information regarding problems; document pertinent information in logbook.
- Collect, prioritize and coordinate completion of such work orders received from hotel departments; ensure scheduled completion of the following:

- a.Replace light switches- b.Reset circuit breakers- c.Replace wall plug receptacles- d.Replace fluorescent light ballast- e.Replace electrical solenoid valve- f.Replace small motors- g.Use test equipment; ohmmeter, voltage tester, amp probe- h.Unplug sinks, toilets, garbage disposals and drain lines- i.Repair of replace valves, gate, globe, ball, solenoid valves- j.Replace washer, gaskets, vacuum breakers, toilet seals- Monitor and maintain all laundry and dry cleaning equipment.
- Monitor and maintain all kitchen equipment.
- Maintain guestrooms using rooms preventive maintenance program punch list.
- Monitor HVAC preventive maintenance program.
- Monitor monthly test run of emergency generator.
- Monitor and maintain pest control requirements.- Perform maintenance on all fire and safety equipment.- Ensure that assigned associate has reported to work; document any late or absent associates.
- Coordinate breaks for assigned associate.
- Prepare and distribute work assignments for associate and review priorities.
- Communicate additions or changes to the assignments as they arise throughout the shift; identify situations, which compromise the department's standards and delegate these tasks.
- Observe associate performance of job functions and ensure all procedures are completed to departmental standards; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel.
- Assist associate with their job functions where needed to ensure optimum standards and efficient operation.
- Conduct training of associate as assigned.
- Manage internal projects including refurbishments & retrofitting.
- Follow-up on the Engineering walkthrough reports of various departments.
- Conduct appraisals of reporting associates on a timely manner.
- Provide feedback on associate performance to manager; report disciplinary problems to manager and participate in the counseling of associates.
- Monitor and handle guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Ensure all associate assignments are completed before associate sign out.
- Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving; review status of assignments and any follow-up action with manager and/or on-coming supervisor.
- All other duties as required.

- Held accountable and committed whatever it takes to comply with the company’s OSHMS Policies, OSHMS Procedure, & Operational Works Instruction and any other relevant legislation applies within the organization.
- Held accountable to take care of his own health and safety, other person in the workplace that may be affected by their acts or omission at work.
- To report to his supervisor or respective Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience:Minimum four years’ experience in building maintenance, electrical work, plumbing and refrigeration. Experience as Assistant Director mandatory
- Education:High school diploma.
