**The job**

1. **Oversee the smooth, efficient, and high-quality operation of the club’s day-to-day functions.**
Ensure the operational excellence of all aspects of the club, including facility maintenance, health and safety protocols, equipment management, and service delivery. Ensure that every operational process—from opening to closing—is streamlined, meets high standards, and supports the delivery of a premium member experience.

2. **Develop and execute operational strategies that drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the member experience.**
Identify opportunities to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and implement best practices across all operational functions. Collaborate with the General Manager and other department heads to ensure the club runs efficiently and cost-effectively while maintaining the highest quality service.

3. **Monitor key operational metrics and lead continuous improvement initiatives.**
Use data and operational insights to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), track facility performance, and implement improvements to maximize efficiency. Ensure the operation runs smoothly and consistently delivers on the brand promise of a high-end, community-driven wellness experience.

**Key responsibilities**

1. **Manage day-to-day operations to ensure a seamless member experience.**
Oversee all operational areas, including front desk, fitness facilities, changing rooms, group exercise spaces, pool, boardrooms and coworking spaces, prayer rooms and toilets, Medical Suite, Barber and Salon, ironing service, valet parking, and laundry. Ensure that all departments are fully stocked, clean, and operational at all times, with no service disruptions.

2. **Maintain health, safety, and compliance standards across the club.**
Ensure that all operations are fully compliant with local regulations and Virgin Active’s internal safety and wellness standards. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and staff training to mitigate potential hazards and ensure the safety of all members and employees.

3. **Oversee facility maintenance and asset management.**
Ensure all equipment, fitness areas, and facilities are well-maintained, fully functional, and clean at all times. Manage relationships with external suppliers and contractors for regular maintenance, ensuring swift resolution of any technical issues.

4. **Ensure smooth execution of promotional events, wellness programs, and special initiatives.**
Work closely with the marketing and product teams to ensure the seamless execution of special events, classes, and promotions. Manage logistics, schedules, and member communication to ensure high participation and a positive experience.

5. **Support the General Manager in managing operational budgets and cost control.**
Assist with budget management, helping to optimize operational costs while maintaining premium service standards. Analyze financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities and help achieve profitability targets.

6. **Lead a team of operations employees and provide ongoing training and performance management.**
Manage, mentor, and develop the operational team to ensure high levels of performance and engagement. Provide continuous training to help employees meet operational standards and improve overall efficiency.

**Key performance indicators**

1. **Operational efficiency**: High performance in operational KPIs, such as response time, facility downtime, and member satisfaction with operational aspects (cleanliness, maintenance). Successful completion of regular brand standards audits.

2. **Cost control and budget management**: Successful management of the operational budget, achieving cost savings while maintaining high standards.

3. **Health and safety compliance**: Zero major incidents or compliance failures, with successful completion of regular safety audits.
