**JOB DESCRIPTION**:

- Assist Senior Chefs: Work closely with pastry chefs and other senior kitchen staff, assisting with tasks and following their directions.
- Prepare Ingredients: Measure, weigh, and prepare ingredients needed for pastries, cakes, breads, and other baked goods.
- Basic Pastry Production: Perform basic tasks like mixing, kneading, shaping, and baking various types of dough and batters.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep workstations, tools, and equipment clean and organized, following food safety and sanitation standards.
- Inventory and Stock Management: Help manage stock, ensure ingredients are fresh, and report any shortages to senior chefs.
- Assist in Decorating and Finishing: Support in the final touches, including glazing, decorating, and plating desserts as instructed.
- Quality Control: Check the quality and consistency of baked goods, adjusting as needed to maintain high standards.
- Equipment Operation: Use and clean kitchen appliances and tools, including mixers, ovens, and piping bags, according to instructions.
- Follow Recipes Accurately: Adhere to standardized recipes and instructions to produce consistent products.
- Learn and Develop Skills: Take every opportunity to learn and improve pastry techniques under the guidance of senior chefs.
- Follow Safety Procedures: Observe all kitchen safety protocols, including proper handling of hot surfaces, sharp tools, and heavy equipment.
- Carries other duties as required.

**Commis Chef Requirements**:

- High school diploma
- Associate’s degree, diploma, or certification in culinary arts is advantageous.
- A food handler's certificate
- Proven commercial kitchen experience.
- Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
- The ability to stand for extended periods.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills.
