**Overview**:
This position is located in the Coordinator of Afghan Relocation Efforts (CARE) Office, in the U.S. Department of State (DOS) in Doha, Qatar at Camp As Sayliyah (CAS). The Food Services SME will provide expertise in the operation of a cafeteria in a fixed setting provided by the USG. As the program evolves, diners will use meal cards to pay for their meals and food will come from local, regional, and international commercial sources. As the situation in Afghanistan moves towards a more normalized existence, food operations will be more in line with other Embassies and plan to evolve toward cash payments for meals, snacks, and other food items.
The cafeteria will consist of an enclosed and environment‐controlled space that is fully furnished and has Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) that is up‐to‐date and fully maintained along with storage areas for dry, chilled, and frozen food.

**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Cafeteria food preparation
- Menu planning to include coordination with community menu boards.
- Cafeteria and snack area janitorial services
- Food storage
- Food items (e.g., frozen, fresh, dry, canned, etc.) and consumable items (e.g., napkins, cleaning supplies, paper plates, etc.) acquisition, logistics, delivery and receipt.
- Special events support and catering services.
- Snack bar operations
- Creation, installation, and operation of meal card system.
**Education and/or Experience**:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the relevant field
- Knowledge of Codex Alimentarius and FDA food regulations
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:
- Working knowledge of government preferred.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to positively influence staff and client are required.
- Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
- Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
- Must have excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Oral and written communication skills; analytical thinking skills.

MRPT Level Required
- Must be able to successfully complete a U.S. government administered investigation for an MRPT (Moderate Risk Public Trust).
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
