Primary Functions
Operations manager is a senior role which involves overseeing the production of work at services in the Fabrication Facility.
It's the operations manager's job to make sure the facility is running as well as it possibly can, with a smooth efficient service that meets the expectations and needs of the Projects and Client.
 
  • Plan and direct all fabrication operations.
  • Establish objectives, policies and procedures covering all aspects and phases of fabrication in the facility.
  • Provide Bid Support as required 
  • Direct the process of scheduling and completing work in a manner consistent with area policies and objectives and in accordance with contractual requirements.  
  • Formulate financial plans and CAPEX requests for the facility operations. Approve and present these plans for approval.
  • Establish standards to measure operations performance relative to Safety, Quality, Productivity in line with area goals and objectives
  • Provide leadership, support, commitment and guidance for HSE&S, Quality and Compliance.
  • Ensure corporate policies and procedures are applied and followed by all personnel.
  • Ensure adequate controls are implemented for managing and accounting for Company assets and materials.
  • Leading Safety of operations through employee engagements. Chair regular operations safety committee meetings. Drive compliance to MOVs and BBS process.
  • Weekly assessment of fabrication progress, productivity, resource allocation and identify areas of focus.
  • Coordination with Project Management teams for the fabrication scope and deliverables for the yard to ensure projects progress is on schedule.
  • Controlling and monitoring project fabrication budgets, costs and identify cost improvement opportunities.
  • Liaising with Marine Operation to ensure Fabricated structures are loaded out and ready for sail away to suit Marine installation schedules.
  • Management of overall functional resources for yard operation. 
  • Review of yard equipment requirement and ensure availability.
  • Coordinate with HRM to mobilize diversified resources locally and from overseas.
 
 
Task and Responsibilities: 
  • Managing all aspects of the day-to-day activities of the Fabrication Facility and for management of all critical disciplines within the facility like Construction Management, Yard Supervision, Operations Engineering, HSES, Quality, Material Management, Warehousing, Fabrication Planning, Change Management and Cost Control.
  • Establish Yard manning plan and liaising with HR to ensure requirements are met
  • Establish, obtain approval and maintain the operational budget
  • Ensuring works at site are performed productively
  • Establish, obtain approval and maintain Capex Schedule and Budget -- detailing Milestones for each Capex
  • Establish and maintain the Equipment schedule and Budget
  • Allocating labor and equipment sources to project
  • Ensuring the work is carried out to Approved for Construction drawings and specifications, weld procedures, erection procedures, load-out procedures and to the fabrication schedule
  • Ensuring that all fabrication personnel are aware of standards to be followed in their work and that all Area Superintendent, Supervisors, Foremen, set. Are continuously monitoring the work of people in their area and effectively supervising to ensure conformance items.
  • Implementing remedial action to recover any slippages in fabrication schedules. 
  • Ensuring that all Safety and Quality standards set by Management are understood effectively transmitted to the workforce and followed. Continuously monitoring the situation to ensure conformance to the agreed requirements.
  • Ensuring all training needs are established and met for fabrication personnel.
  • Developing the assigned annual operating budget, monitor budgeted performance to ensure adherence to budget, identify variances, and implements cost reduction strategies when required.
  • Supporting and enforcing the Compliance/Ethics program as described in the Corporate "Code of Business Conduct". Reporting possible or actual ethic violation to a member of the Regional Compliance Team or to direct Supervisor/Manager. Provide guidance and mentorship for direct reports related to Compliance/Ethics issues. Assist when requested with investigations into compliance/ethics investigations and reports. Maintain confidentiality of ethics issues and those who report possible or actual compliance/ethics issue.
  • Ensure high standard of safe working practice, quality and productivity as well as compliance with the code of business conducts.
  • Establish and maintain relations with Port and Coast Guard
  • Build and maintain a positive connection with clients on site.


Qualifications, Experience and Skills
 
Qualifications:
  • B. Sc. Engineering/ B. E. / B. Tech in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or Equivalent Experience level suitable for the role
Experience: 
  • 20 years relevant experience in Fabrication Operations, Yard Management, and Construction of Offshore Oil and Gas projects.
Skills: 
  • Experience in Fabrication Operations, Engineering, Estimating, Project Management, Fabrication Budgeting, Workhours Scheduling and Forecasting, Commercials, Proposals, Tendering, Project Controls, HSES, QA/QC.
  • Strong leadership presence, excellent communication skills who works well with others
