Objective of the job

Execute all the project activities related to piping engineering in efficient manner focusing on Client and Quality requirements. Client satisfaction shall be ultimate goal of the job.

Duties and responsibilities

Design realization

The principal accountabilities are listed as below and to be performed in consultation with all disciplines involved, in accordance with legislation and regulations, technical guidelines, the program of requirements and the MEC Quality System (MQS), in order to contribute to the tender and the realization of the project design (or parts thereof).

  • To provide discipline engineering expertise to all project design phases in accordance with the project plan, standards, norms and other regulations applicable.
  • In depth knowledge of International and Client codes and standards
  • To ensure design packages meet the required safety, environmental and ergonomic standards
  • Co-ordination with other discipline and design product suppliers to Implement and provide a good Design.
  • Attending site visits to verify and Collect the data in order to provide required design by client.
  • Review Designers and Draftsmen's work to develop optimum layout and Design.
  • On request, monitor construction, testing, and commissioning work executed by the construction contractors for compliance with the project specification.
  • Review / Guide in preparation of Plot Plan, Piping Plan's, Piping Isometrics, Key plan, tie-in schedule, Piping Bill of Material, Support Schedule.
  • Preparation of Piping item requisitions and technical evaluation of subsequent bids for discipline material purchases, Vendor drawing review.
  • Ensure designs are executed in line with international/Client specifications, standards and procedures.
  • Preparing and Presenting the Model reviews and closing the outcomes
  • Participating the Reviews such as Design Review, HAZOP, HAZID, SIMOPS and Other safety reviews.
  • Addressing and closing the Site queries in accordance with the standards and consulting with Senior Engineers.
  • Review and providing the other discipline Documents where interface exists.
  • Act as Principal piping engineer of projects, managing discipline design teams of junior engineers and designers. Utilize resources in optimal manner to meet Client needs. Identify requirement of additional resources to Department manager well in time.
  • To actively train and encourage the development of staff to fulfil process and systems engineering roles.
  • To provide feedback on improvement to the Company's design standards.

Required knowledge and experience

Educational qualification:

Bachelors / Masters in Mechanical Engineering

Professional and intellectual level:

Having MMUP Grade A certificate

Work experience:

Minimum 15 years in FEED / Detailed Design

Knowledge of / experience with:

FEED / Detailed Design Engineering activities for Piping Design for onshore and offshore projects
