Job Purpose:

To perform a wide range of analytical and technical laboratory tests in the fields of Clinical Chemistry, Immunology, Serology and Hematology ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, reliability, and quality. The role includes sample collection (phlebotomy), analysis, validation, and reporting of results in compliance with international accreditation standards (eg.ISO15189, CAP, or equivalent). The technologist supports the overall laboratory operations, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives under the supervision of the Pathologist.

Job Description:

  • Establish the team's objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
  • Regularly evaluate the team's objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if/as needed.
  • Oversee and supervise subordinates' daily activities, training, and discipline to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
  • Abide by the GHMS Rules and Regulations, Policies and Procedures, and Qatar Airways Policies, Procedures and Guidelines
  • Work cooperatively with other individuals and organizations in a professional and civil manner to discharge properly the responsibilities established by the company.
  • Prepare and arrange the team's monthly duty roster, overtime, training courses and leave schedules.
  • Preserve the favorable image and reputation of Qatar Airways Group and maintaining confidentiality and a dedicated professional attitude.
  • May assist in scheduling/rescheduling clients and provide the appropriate preparatory exam instructions.
  • Disseminate reports to the appropriate end user.
  • Coordinate retrieval or forwarding of lab results to appropriate personnel and as per reporting guidelines.
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned.

Development / Training Tasks

  • Take responsibility and fulfil the CPD continuous professional development required by the QCHP (Qatar
  • Council for Healthcare Practitioners) and ensure license is maintained at all times.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Train and develop other employees, for proper succession planning and risk management.
  • Ensure that junior technicians have received the proper educational and training courses and meet the CME/CPD requirements.
  • Assist in the response to any emergency or a major operational disruption affecting Qatar Airways or its subsidiaries, including support of the Qatar Airways Special Assistance Program.

Operational Safety

  • Ensure that employees understand work health and safety requirements and expectations through provision of relevant QR Group induction, information, instruction, training and supervision.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operation to assure employee safety, security, legislative compliance and delivery of high-quality service with a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Ensure that employees understand work health and safety requirements and expectations to the extent that they can pass on relevant information, identify training needs and provide appropriate supervision in their workplace.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across operations to ensure employee safety, security, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality service with a responsible environmental attitude.

In Conjunction with Healthcare Staff:

  • Ensure and supervise the proper use of clear cautionary signage of materials including biohazard materials.
  • Ensure and supervise the proper use and handling of color-coded sampling tubes.
  • Ensure and supervise the proper use and placement of color-coded trash bins and sharp boxes.
  • Ensure and supervise the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure that if and when needed the proper history of current medications, drug use, previous blood transfusions are captured.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Medical Laboratory technology or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7 Years of experience in Medical Laboratory technology
  • Formal training program in Lab technology
  • Eligible for / Licensed with QCHP (Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners)
  • CPR Certificate
  • Recent experience in LIMS systems for lab (advantage)
  • Experience with accreditation standards like ISO15189, JCI or equivalent (advantage)
  • Good communication skills (Arabic is a plus but not mandatory)

Job Type: Temporary

Contract length: 6 months

Pay: QAR7, QAR10,000.00 per month
