Shift Leader

The Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing daily operations during assigned shifts in the Dark Store. This includes managing pickers, ensuring order accuracy, maintaining inventory standards, improving productivity, and supporting smooth coordination with riders and customer service.
Key Responsibilities1. Shift Operations Management
- Supervise daily store operations and ensure all tasks are completed on time.
- Monitor picking, packing, and dispatching processes to maintain fast delivery times.
- Ensure adherence to company SOPs (receiving, stocking, picking rules, FIFO, hygiene, safety, etc.).
- Assign tasks to team members and monitor performance during the shift.
- Track shift productivity and report operational gaps to the Store Manager.
2. Team Leadership
- Lead and motivate pickers/packers to achieve high accuracy and performance.
- Conduct quick stand-up meetings at the start of each shift (targets, issues, updates).
- Train new staff on picking standards, app usage, and store layout.
- Manage staff discipline and escalate issues when needed.
3. Inventory & Stock Control
- Monitor stock levels and notify the Inventory Controller about out-of-stock or low-stock items.
- Ensure correct product labeling, expiration checking, and FIFO stock rotation.
- Flag damaged, expired, or misplaced items.
- Support in stock counts during cycle counts or monthly inventory.
4. Quality & Customer Experience
- Ensure orders are picked 100% accurately and packed properly.
- Follow cold-chain requirements for chilled/frozen products.
- Minimize customer complaints related to wrong items or delays.
- Coordinate with customer service for order issues or replacements.
5. Store Maintenance & Safety
- Ensure the dark store is clean, organized, and compliant with safety rules.
- Report equipment issues (fridges, scanners, shelves, lights) to the maintenance team.
- Ensure all team members follow safety and hygiene guidelines.
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare end-of-shift reports (orders completed, delays, issues, manpower, incidents).
- Document any operational incident, shrinkage case, or inventory discrepancy.
- Enter required data in the system/app as per company processes.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Order accuracy rate
- Picking time per order
- On-time dispatch rate
- Shrinkage / damaged items
- Customer complaint resolution
- Staff productivity per hour
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in supermarkets, warehouses, or dark stores (preferred).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Basic computer and mobile app skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
