ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN(power plant)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Major function: Responsible for carrying out electrical maintenance activities in a safe manner to maximize operating efficiency, plant availability and reliability. Ensure adequate maintenance of all plant equipment. Plant equipment includes, but is not limited to the gas turbine generators, transformers, switchgears, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, motors, and other auxiliary equipment.
- Perform trouble shooting and diagnosing problems with electrical equipment with the ability to provide solution in a timely fashion.
- Perform repairing, replacing, dismantling and inspecting defective electrical plant equipment and parts such as, but is not limited to gas turbine generators, excitation system, transformers, switchgears, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, motors, and other auxiliary equipment under minimum supervision, performing duties independently with only general direction given.
- Ensure that all electrical maintenance work is in compliance with vendor manuals and procedures involving such tasks, but not limited to Insulation Test, DC High Potential testing of large generators, DC step voltage testing of large motors, transformer, relay testing and quality control.
- Supports operating and maintenance functions with engineering analysis, troubleshooting, problem identification and problem resolution activities.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair on all switchgear control circuits, generators, circuit breakers, contactors and relays in accordance with procedures and manufacturers’ recommendations. Tests and repairs all safety circuits in generator and control units.
- Follows safety/environmental rules and regulations. Implements safe working practices and immediately identifies hazards and recommends and/or implements repairs.
- Attends to housekeeping at the end of each job/task.
- Ability to work during weekends and nights as needed, and must be willing to work overtime which can be either scheduled or call-in.
- Performs other duties and tasks that may be assigned from time to time. SKILLS
- Solid knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, and power generation machinery.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical faults.
