An emphasis onQatari culture and values is supported by a strong BritishCurriculum offer and shaped by Durham School's 600 yearsof tradition and its MARK values (Moral Integrity, Ambition,Responsibility, Kindness) – values that resonate withQatar's national values.

DSGD's first four yearsexceeded expectations in terms of numbers – which nowstand at 1,300 – and the school has helped to redefinegirls' education in a way that supports The QatarNational Vision 2030 and its emphasis on empowering women toparticipate fully in the political, economic and social life of thecountry.

DSGD seeks to build the emotional, moral and spiritualstrength that will be essential to future leadership. The school isQNSA and BSO-accredited and was the first all-girls internationalschool to become a High-Performance Learning World ClassSchool.

These remarkable achievements have required a fine balancebetween the needs of Qatar, an emphasis on local culture,traditions and beliefs, outstanding British curriculum delivery, agenuinely holistic approach, and close attention to thegirls' academic and pastoral development.

The challengenow is to consolidate this success, to sharpen and embed theschool's identity and ambitions, and to understand whatthis means for DSGD's next stage of development.

To meetthe challenge of steering the school into this next, excitingperiod, a new leadership team is being established to work with thePrincipal, Vanessa Whay.

The Vice-Principal (Primary) andVice
  • Principal (Secondary) – previously these have beenthe Head of Primary and Head of Secondary roles – willbecome increasingly important not only in leading their respectivedivisions but in providing cross school operational and strategicleadership.
The Vice-Principal (Arabic and Islamic Studies) is anew position, unique in a British school context, which recognisesthe importance of this remit given how the school has beenestablished.
DSGD is seeking three outstanding and experiencedleaders.

These are rare opportunities in a unique school– a chance to be part of taking the leadership of theschool to a new level, consolidating all that the school hasachieved so rapidly, further developing its identity and strategicdirection, and raising standards across the school so that it canbecome a transformational force in girls' education inQatar and the region.

Candidates for all three roles will combineleadership experience with energy and dynamism and a convictionabout the school's values and the idea of'Confidence for Life'.

They will want to bepart of an international school that is contributing to a nationalagenda and will understand how a British education can be a vehiclefor this.

All three roles require candidates who see this as amedium-long-term commitment. They are outstanding opportunities forthe right candidates.
The Vice-Principal (Primary) role is availablefor August 2024. Earlier appointment will be possible to the VicePrincipal (Arabic and Islamic studies) and Vice Principal(Secondary) roles.
