Job Description: Industrial Hygienist

Department: Safety & Occupational Health Department, HSE&Q Group

Job Purpose: To develop and implement the Industrial Hygiene Program (IHP) aimed at protecting employees, contractors, and visitors from occupational health risks.

Reporting and Relationships:
  • Reports to: Head of Industrial Hygiene.
  • Internal: Frequent contact with HSE&Q Department and staff across the Company.
  • External: Regular interaction with Contractors.
Job Context & Major Challenges:
  • Anticipate and identify occupational hazards (physical, chemical, biological) and establish exposure limits in compliance with Company policies, government laws, and technical standards.
  • Provide expert consultation and problem-solving for complex industrial hygiene issues.
  • Prioritize health risks based on assessments and cost-benefit analysis rather than seniority.
Financial Dimension:
  • Operates within defined budget and authority.
Generic Accountabilities - All Employees:
  • Ensure compliance with Company Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) policies and standards.
  • Support Qatarization Program by contributing to the development of Qatari employees.
  • Adhere to anti-trust laws and Company firewall policies.
Key Job Accountabilities:

Implement the Industrial Hygiene Program (IHP) and Annual Action Plan, ensuring adherence to relevant standards. Participate in EHS meetings to present program updates and findings.Review workplace health issues raised by departments and ensure timely implementation of recommendations.Conduct qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments, providing reports and recommendations for hazard reduction and compliance.Perform routine audits of plant and offshore facilities to identify compliance levels and issues.Assist in implementing control measures (engineering controls, work practices, PPE) to mitigate exposure risks.Develop and deliver workplace health protection training (e.g., hazard communication, hearing conservation) as directed.Identify jobs requiring periodic medical surveillance due to potential exposure risks.Participate in shutdown planning, ensuring availability of resources for staff, training, PPE, and monitoring equipment.Contribute to discussions on process changes and new constructions to anticipate and control workplace health risks.Assist in calibrating, purchasing, and maintaining industrial hygiene instruments to support the IHP. Participate in annual IHP audits.Person Specification - Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or Science with further study in Industrial Hygiene.
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in industrial hygiene, including at least 3 years in the oil and gas industry (onshore/offshore).
  • Proficient in written and spoken English, capable of producing technical reports and delivering presentations.
  • Computer literate (MS Office).
  • preferable indonesian passport holder to apply and willing to relocate to Qatar with family.
