About the role

The Duty Manager is responsible for supporting and managing all aspects of the business and able to control the activities on shop's operational matters, and permit office. He/she makes a significant contribution to maximize sales, minimize stock losses and revenue generated through customer satisfaction and employee engagement as well as staff development through training activities.

Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Communicate shop sales targets to sales assistant and shop team leaders actively and effectively ensuring all staff are fully aware of the sales target and motivated to drive sales results through directly involving, presenting, promoting and selling the products in order to increase sales volume with adequate selling techniques skills and product knowledge.
  2. With the direction of Manager Retail & Permit Operations, recommend and plan promotion monthly target for alcohol and/or special food item, ensuring sales percentage and profit margin are covered during promotional period.
  3. Liaise with marketing team for marketing promotion according to promotional plan and ensuring operations are fully equipped/prepared for a successful launch of any marketing promotional activities, including tracking and meeting the sales targets.
  4. Coordinate and check stock movement from warehouse to shop on daily basis ensuring proper stock rotation, full shelves, and high standards of merchandising at any given time to maximize sales and to avoid any damage items.
  5. Review weekly expiry report and identify outdated stocks or short stocks well in advance and report to Manager Retail & Permit Operations in order to avoid lost in sales.
  6. Conduct daily operational checklist at every shift ensuring Retail Standards are followed and maintained by all employees at the shop floor; should any incompliance be observed, take required actions for future improvement.
  7. Facilitate & deliver On the Job training with continuous assessment and observation for the team, in order to align with the Training Development Plan. Lead and drive new initiatives to be implemented by team members.

Qualifications

About you

The successful candidate will have the following:

  1. Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
  2. Minimum 3 years of job-related experience
  3. Experience in the Retail or Service industry

Job Specific Skills:

  1. Financial knowledge of cash handling
  2. Skills in MS Word/Excel is essential, while working knowledge of other retail IT systems is a must (Customer focus, market knowledge, staffing, results driven)
  3. Good command of English language
  4. Operational knowledge of Retail Environment is important
  5. Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
