**Purpose**:
To advise the Senior Managers on the progress of all work under his/her control and stock requirement
To communicate and exchange information on equipment maintenance data
**External Communication**: Vendors & Suppliers Purpose:
To communicate on maintenance issues
**Occupational Health & Safety and Environment**
**Accountability**:
Accountable to their line manager and direct reports so far as is reasonably practical to ensure:
- a safe place or work;
- safe systems of work;
- safe plant & equipment;
- provision of information and training.
**Responsibility**:
Responsible for:
His/her personal safety and that of all personnel under his/her authority, including others who may be affected by the company’s activities. In particular to:
- Conduct risk assessments on activities within their department ensuring that the methods and safe systems of work are safe and implemented;
- Ensure all employees and contractors under their control are competent to undertake their duties;
- Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported and investigated;
- Promote good behaviours and set a personal example with regard to occupational health and safety matters.
**Authority**:
Managers/Supervisors have the authority to stop work when health and safety is unsafe or being compromised.
**Education & Professional Qualification**:
Bachelor Engineering Degree (Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics)
**Professional Experience**:
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in engineering activities within a port environment with strong knowledge of container handling equipment (Ship to Shore Cranes, Reach Stackers, RTG’s, Gottwald Mobile Harbor Cranes, etc.
- Minimum three (3) years of maintenance in Port Operation equipment and Port Superstructures and in particular Mobile Harbor Cranes (Gottwald)
**Geographic Experience**:
GCC experience preferred
**Computer Skills**:
**Language Skills**:
Intermediate English
**Market/Industry/Functional Knowledge**:
Preferred
**Key Roles & Responsibilities**
**Equipment Maintenance**:
- Manage the equipment’s maintenance & related activities including repairs and maintenance of equipment, and define safety and technology requirements.
- Ensure that maintenance & repair works are carried out promptly and that the repair work doesn’t disrupt the operations.
- Reviews and recommends updates to maintenance service policies and procedures to ensure quality, reliability and efficiencies.
- Plan, assign and organise the distribution of work amongst the maintenance supervisors, ensuring full utilization of available skills;
**Workshop Safety**:
- Ensure that the workshop is safely maintained, all working areas are safe and that staff are fully trained to do their job efficiently and safely.
Procurement Support
- Assist the procurement function in pricing of spare parts, quality and selecting the best suppliers for the required consumables through yearly tenders and negotiate service agreements to ensure cost efficiencies
- Build strong relationships with vendors, contractors and service providers and negotiate spare parts prices, specifications, terms & conditions;
**People Management**:
- Provide recommendations on new subordinate hires and ensure the availability of all resources required to perform assigned tasks and activities
- Supervise subordinate staff, assign work activities, monitor performance and review results
- Act as a coach to subordinates, identify their training and career development, recommend training courses and follow-up on their personnel records such as timesheets, discipline, vacations, leaves and absenteeism
**HSSEQ**:
- Implement and maintain within their area of responsibility and accountability, compliance to all Milaha Health & Safety, Security, Environment and Quality policies, manuals, procedures, laws, regulations and standards
- Actively contribute and participate in Milaha Health & Safety, Security, Environment and Quality consultations, training and initiatives
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Ensure operations/work processes occur in accordance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and any other standards and requirements to which compliance is required
- Ensure the health and safety of all employees and the protection of the environment for all sites/work premises under their control.
