Wood is currently looking to recruit a Senior Cost Controller to provide specialist support to our Qatar office for Shell GTL Project.
- Protects CONTRACTOR Company and thereby COMPANY from contractual risk by working in a process of continuous improvement to encourage/promote the introduction and implementation of best practice contracting methodology and practices.
- Support Material Management in the day-to-day activities for procuring and expediting of material. Incumbent is also responsible for planning and executing of procurement activities to meet project requirements with regard to cost and schedule.

- Maintain confidentiality of information at all times.
- Monitors and Reviews overall department workload in relation to specific projects and makes appropriate assignments
- Review and monitor issuance of Request for Quotation to the pre-qualified vendors for the bidding of various materials and equipment requirements of the projects.
- Review Negotiation Plan as basis of negotiation for shortlisted vendors and assist with negotiations as required.
- Review and as applicable approve Commercial Bid Evaluation, Award Recommendation and Purchase Order including all necessary and applicable contract documents.
- Coordinate with projects and concerned parties with regard to status of delivery of equipment and materials.
- Monitor expediting of vendor with particular reference to document deliverables.
- Review accuracy of procurement status report and ensure follow up with specific projects.
- Liaises with Project Managers to address specific project issues
- Ethically and respectfully builds and maintains effective working relationships.
- Utilizes effective communication skills to ensure information is distributed in a timely and clear manner. Analysis and negotiation of claims.
- Maintain claims register.
- Expedite Engineering and Document Control to ensure all vendor prints are returned within the time period stipulated within the purchase order.
- Expedite vendors and QC department for submittals of AFI’s and IRN’s for all equipment and materials.
- Attend KOM’s or hold telephone KOM’s with vendors to establish a good working relationship explaining the criticality of vendor prints submissions, Monthly Progress Status Reports (MPSR) and the impact of equipment/material delivery delays on Company’s overall operations.

Experience & Technical Competencies:

- Demonstrate experience in past project involvement in small to medium size projects with purchase order commitment in excess of $500K.
- Able to exercise good judgement in safeguarding confidential or sensitive information and adhere to high standards of confidentiality and honesty.
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems, analyses alternatives, and develops viable recommendations.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks to perform job functions in an orderly, efficient manner.
- Demonstrated high order interpersonal skills and the ability to operate within a multinational environment, with wide exposure to various cultures and customs.
- Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal) with ability to interact across multiple disciplines.
- A high level of computer literacy.
- Demonstrate a clear understands of Bank Guarantee’s / Performance Bond
- Demonstrate examples of types of vendors prints and their importance to procurement.
- Understand the market price of a commodity, whether suppliers' price quotes are reasonable and standard delivery time of the material / equipment.
- Understand technical evaluations and prepare commercial evaluations accordingly.
- Capable of analysing and commenting about a detailed project schedule and a Material Delivery Status Report.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of materials logistics, INCOTERMS, essential shipping documents, and customs clearance procedures.
- Experience of vendor expediting, including typical expediting problems and solutions, and expediting techniques.
- Able to organize and manage a KOM with vendor and client, including drafting the MOM for procurement and collating comments from other disciplines.
- Manages and tracks work systematically.
