Professor of Architecture and Sustainability

We are seeking a highly skilled architect to join our academic team as an Assistant / Associate Professor in Architecture. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality teaching, curriculum development, research, and engagement in professional practice.

Job DescriptionThis role is pivotal to advancing our programme's strategic objectives, including promoting sustainability, fostering innovation in design education, and cultivating interdisciplinary approaches to architectural practice.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Curriculum Development: Design and develop innovative curriculum materials, ensuring relevance to professional and academic standards, and contributing to other areas of the curriculum where architecture interfaces with sustainability, emerging technologies, and digital innovation.
- Student Support and Assessment: Maintain records of student attendance and progress, conduct assessment and internal verification, and evaluate teaching effectiveness through regular feedback.
- Professional Development and Research: Engage in and contribute to our research programmes in architecture, develop and submit research funding proposals, stay up-to-date with advancements in architectural practice and pedagogy, and maintain a strong record of published research.
- Course Promotion and Industry Engagement: Foster relationships with industry partners to enhance learning opportunities for students, and assist in identifying and monitoring work placements for students.
- Hold a PhD in a relevant area or demonstrate equivalent expertise from leading-edge industry practice.
- Hold qualifications in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or a closely aligned sustainable design degree to at least Master's level.
- Registered Architect with the ARB and member of the RIBA (minimum five years' standing) preferred.
- Experience of teaching and assessing student work at the undergraduate level.
- Strong record of published research and climate literacy.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Innovative teaching methodologies and curriculum design expertise.
