The Role:

Gulf Drilling International invites applications for the position of Radio Operator. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between drilling rigs, vessels, and other locations.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Utilize technical communication systems to exchange messages between drilling rigs, Doha, vessels, and other locations, covering HF, VHF, UHF, and microwave bands.
  • Process and distribute incoming radio messages from supervisors or user units via radio equipment or landlines to various company locations, ships, and helicopters.
  • Observe and report weather conditions and sea state as required by supervisors, ensuring timely broadcasts to relevant parties.
  • Manage the receipt and dispatch of urgent materials belonging to the company and clients via helicopters, following up on their status.
  • Establish and maintain radio communication links between assigned drilling rigs, Doha vessels, and other locations during designated night shifts.
  • Initiate prompt actions in response to emergencies in accordance with GDI's established procedures.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Secondary (12 years) education/Diploma completion.
  • Relevant experience working in drilling companies within the GCC region.
  • Strong communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • Familiarity with emergency response protocols.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in radio communications or hold a valid radio operator license.
