About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team at Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, as well as providing financial guidance and support to our hotel operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and correct daily revenue journal to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Control balance sheet accounts by preparing monthly account reconciliations and taking necessary actions
  • Monitor and review accounts payable balance to ensure accuracy and propose actions to ensure a clear balance with minimal over 90/120 day amounts
  • Manage accommodation advance deposits and monitor house banks and investments
  • Analyze and investigate cashiers' over and shorts, and code and input manual cheques
  • Investigate and input bank statement data, and prepare bank reconciliations such as agency impress and replacement reserve
  • Review accounts payable monthly inventory reconciliations, and review accounts payable purchase journal
  • Review travel agency commission payments, and maintain replacement reserve cash book
  • Prepare month-end journals, and prepare balance sheet records and identify and reconcile all items therein
  • Audit payroll, and prepare monthly invoices for other IHG hotels, General Manager, Store and Shop rentals
  • Prepare all journal vouchers for month-end closing, and prepare monthly Financial Statements for distribution to Department Heads and Executives
  • Responsible for month-end back-office computer closing, and approve various city ledger transactions before posting
  • Prepare asset purchase/disposal report for owners, and approve payment requests, employee advances and petty cash prior to payment
  • Assist Finance and Business Support Director and Assistant Finance and Business Support Manager in budget preparation and input, forecast reports and monthly reporting to corporate finance
  • Supervise Accounts department in the absence of the Assistant Finance and Business Support Manager
  • Reports directly to and communicates with the Finance and Business Support Director and Assistant Finance and Business Support Manager on all matters pertaining to accounting and financial controls
  • Cooperates, coordinates and communicates with other departments in matters concerning accounting related matters and internal control
  • Interacts, as required, with individuals outside the hotel including hotel's bank, tax auditors and other hotels and IHG corporate offices
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as Accounting Manager in a similar capacity in a hotel
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Knowledge of current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology
  • Excellent communication skills within the organization, proactive communicator
  • High managerial skills to meet and focus on deadlines, planning, results-driven, and flexible
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, mainly Excel
