Job Description

Job Title: Construction Supervisor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Construction Supervisor to join our team at Brunel. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the construction of electrical and cathodic protection projects, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards and within the allocated timeframe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the construction of electrical and cathodic protection projects, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards and within the allocated timeframe.
  • Chair weekly construction progress meetings to ensure that all stakeholders are informed and aligned with project progress.
  • Control and supervise site construction/installation for multiple projects, ensuring that all work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Review project planning and scheduling for projects during the construction phase, identifying any construction slippage and assisting in optimizing contractors' resources to meet allocated project milestones.
  • Review contractors' construction plans and schedules, including method statements and JSAs, to ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Assist in contractors' mobilization and demobilization, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed and that all contractors are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Ensure that safety regulations for contractors, project safety plans, and State of Qatar's environmental regulations are understood and followed by contractors.
  • Control and endorse work permits for project work, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed and that all contractors are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Inspect construction works and materials in accordance with project quality plans and inspection & test plans (ITPs), ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Coordinate with concerned parties to resolve routine site issues and refer technical queries to senior construction supervisor.
  • Update daily and weekly construction progress reports for assigned projects, verifying contractors' progress statements for accuracy.
  • Attend weekly progress meetings for assigned projects, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned with project progress.
  • Prepare and categorize punch list and ensure that all punch list items are cleared by contractors.
  • Coordinate pre-commissioning activities and assist during commissioning of facilities, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Initiate Mechanical Completion Certificates (MCC), Handover Certificate (HOC), Acceptance Certificate (AC), and facilitate the issuance of Project Completion & Discharge Certificates.
  • Assist in the development of Qatari Engineers, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to complete projects to the highest standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an internationally recognized university.
  • At least 12 years' experience in the appropriate discipline involving construction installation pre-commissioning & commissioning of oil and gas, high-rise buildings & towers for HV, MV, and LV Electrical equipment, including experience at a supervisory level.
  • Good skills in construction management, effective communication, conflict resolution, and relevant courses in HSE, QAQC, and construction.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) / NFPA 70, IEC, or equivalent standards.
  • Working knowledge of electrical installations, including materials, methods, specifications, and hazardous location identification, as applicable.
  • Experienced in the implementation of construction industry best practices, systems, processes, and standards.
  • Ability to interpret methods statements, construction schedules, and drawings.
  • Good skills in construction management, effective communication, conflict resolution, and ability to resolve problems at site technically & contractually.
