We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Math and Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Math and General Science from Grades 6 to 8 and Math or Science from Grades 9 to 10. They will create engaging, inquiry-based lessons that foster problem-solving, critical thinking, and a love for learning while adapting the curriculum to meet diverse student needs. A commitment to innovation, student-centered learning, and high academic standards is essential.

About the role

We are looking to appoint a teacher who can teach both Maths and Science to join our amazing team who:

Is an outstanding and passionate practitioner
Has experience in teaching Maths and General Sciences from Grades 6 to 8
Has experience teaching Maths or Science from Grades 9 to 10
Is passionate about teaching and learning with a commitment to continuous improvement
Will be committed to the vision of igniting passion, purpose and potential in our students
Can contribute to the development of the Maths and Science Departments offering creative opportunities to enrich the learning experience of students at THIS
Adapts the curriculum to fit student needs while maintaining overall class progress
Assesses and records student development, while identifying problem areas and areas which need attention and improvement
Has excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, parents, and school leaders
Maintains high levels of behaviour among students, while promoting safety and compliance with school rules and guidelines
Is passionate about learning beyond the curriculum
Teaching and Instruction
Lesson Planning: Develop and deliver well-structured lessons that cover the required scientific content, while being engaging and accessible to all students. Incorporate a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles.
Curriculum Delivery: Teach a range of scientific disciplines (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science) according to the curriculum, ensuring students meet learning objectives.
Laboratory Work: Plan and supervise practical experiments, ensuring students are aware of and follow health and safety procedures. Encourage hands-on learning and help students make connections between theory and practice.
Differentiation: Adapt lessons and resources to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with learning difficulties and gifted and talented students.

Desired candidate profile

Strong Subject Knowledge: A solid understanding of the key concepts in biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science, along with the ability to explain complex scientific ideas in a clear and engaging way.
Teaching Skills: Proficiency in creating interactive and engaging lessons that cater to diverse learners, using various methods such as inquiry-based learning, problem-solving, and project-based learning.
Classroom Management: The ability to manage classroom behavior and ensure a positive, productive, and respectful learning environment.
Assessment and Data Analysis: Ability to assess students' work effectively and use data to track their progress, identify areas for improvement, and provide constructive feedback.
ICT Proficiency: Competence in using technology and digital tools to support teaching and learning, such as interactive whiteboards, educational software, or virtual learning environments.
Organizational Skills: The ability to plan and organize lessons, manage time effectively, and coordinate practical sessions, including safety and preparation of materials.
