Head of Maths Teacher

We are looking to appoint a Subject Leader of Maths to join our Math Department who:
· Is an outstanding and passionate practitioner and leader
· Has experience in leading and managing within a maths team
· Has experience in teaching Maths from Grades 6 to 12 (all specialisms will be considered)
· Has experience teaching Maths at High School Diploma, IB Diploma Level or A Level equivalent level (experience of teaching IB DP Maths would be advantageous)
· Is passionate about teaching and learning with a commitment to continuous improvement
· Will be committed to the vision of igniting passion, purpose and potential in our students
· Can contribute to the development of the Maths Department offering creative opportunities to enrich the learning experience of students at THIS
· Adapts the curriculum to fit student needs while maintaining overall class progress
· Assesses and records student development, while identifying problem areas and areas which need attention and improvement
· Has excellent communication skills with students, colleagues, parents, and school leaders
· Maintains high levels of behaviour among students, while promoting safety and compliance with school rules and guidelines
Leadership and Management
Lead and manage the mathematics department, ensuring the team works cohesively and effectively.
Set clear goals and objectives for the department in alignment with the school's vision.
Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities for mathematics teachers.
Ensure the department is well-organized and operates efficiently.
Curriculum Development
Develop and oversee the mathematics curriculum to ensure it is engaging, relevant, and meets the needs of all students.
Review and update the curriculum to ensure it is in line with national standards and best practices.
Ensure that schemes of work are in place, consistent, and provide adequate coverage of the subject content.
- Strong Pedagogical Knowledge: A deep understanding of teaching methodologies, assessment strategies, and current trends in mathematics education.
- Leadership and Management: Proven ability to lead a team, manage people, and delegate responsibilities. Ability to inspire and motivate colleagues, foster teamwork, and create a positive department culture.
- Effective Communication: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. The ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, students, parents, and senior leadership.
- Curriculum Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of national or regional mathematics curricula, assessment frameworks, and examination requirements.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Ability to analyze student performance data, identify areas for improvement, and set clear, actionable goals to improve student outcomes.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional time management, multitasking, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- ICT Proficiency: Competency in using technology for teaching, learning, and departmental administration (e.g., using interactive whiteboards, educational software, and data management systems).
- Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Ability to adapt to changing educational demands, think critically, and solve problems efficiently.
