Roles and responsibilities

1. Planning and Delivering Lessons

  • Develop well-structured lesson plans that cover key mathematical topics such as algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, calculus, and more.
  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons, ensuring that students grasp fundamental concepts, improve their problem-solving skills, and can apply mathematical principles to real-life situations.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies, including direct instruction, problem-solving activities, group work, and technology-based resources to make learning engaging and accessible.
  • Adapt lessons to meet the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs (SEN), gifted students, and students with different learning styles or abilities.

2. Assessment and Monitoring Progress

  • Regularly assess students' understanding through formative and summative assessments such as quizzes, tests, assignments, and homework.
  • Track individual and class progress, using data from assessments to identify areas where students need additional support or enrichment.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on students' work, helping them understand where they can improve and guiding them on how to solve problems more effectively.
  • Prepare students for external examinations (e.g., GCSEs, A-levels, or equivalent exams) by reviewing key topics, practicing past papers, and teaching exam techniques.

3. Classroom Management

  • Create and maintain a positive, supportive, and disciplined classroom environment where students feel confident to participate, ask questions, and make mistakes as part of the learning process.
  • Establish clear expectations for behavior, ensuring that all students are respectful of one another and the learning materials.
  • Use effective classroom management strategies to maintain focus and minimize disruptions, particularly when students are working independently or in groups.
Desired candidate profile

An educational degree, such as Bachelor's in Education Degree or related field.
A certified teaching qualification such PGCE, QTS with an Induction Certificate or equivalent (the PGCE must be accompanied by a subject relevant Bachelor's Degree)
Minimum two years of teaching experience (international experience is an advantage but not required)
Exceptional subject knowledge, with extensive experience of teaching the British National Curriculum and trained in Secondary school environment.

A proven track record of providing outstanding teaching and learning.
A commitment to actively participate in extracurricular activities after school hours
Providing Additional Support
Offer individualized support to students who may be struggling with specific mathematical concepts or skills, including one-on-one tutoring or small group sessions.
Provide differentiated tasks for students who need more challenging work, ensuring that advanced learners are stretched and motivated.
Offer regular office hours or additional study sessions for students who need extra help or want to reinforce their understanding outside of regular class time.
