Roles and responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery and Instruction

    • Plan, deliver, and assess lessons in accordance with the school's curriculum, ensuring the needs of all students are met.
    • Teach a wide range of subjects, including but not limited to literacy, numeracy, science, social studies, and creative arts, at an appropriate level for primary school children.
    • Develop clear learning objectives for each lesson and provide engaging activities that align with these goals.
    • Provide differentiated instruction to meet the varied learning needs, abilities, and interests of all students.
    • Utilize a range of teaching methods, including direct instruction, hands-on learning, group work, and project-based learning.

  • Assessment and Monitoring Progress

    • Regularly assess student progress through both formal (tests, assignments) and informal (observations, class discussions) methods.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback on students' work, highlighting areas for improvement and setting targets for further progress.
    • Maintain accurate records of students' academic performance, behavior, and attendance.
    • Use assessment results to adjust lesson plans and teaching methods, ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed.

  • Classroom Management

    • Create a positive and structured classroom environment where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to learn.
    • Set clear expectations for student behavior, ensuring consistency and fairness in the management of discipline.
    • Encourage a collaborative and respectful atmosphere where students can express themselves, work together, and engage in classroom activities.
    • Monitor and address any disruptive behavior or issues that may arise in a constructive and supportive manner.

  • Individual Student Support

    • Identify students who require additional academic, social, or emotional support and provide the necessary guidance or interventions.
    • Adapt teaching methods, materials, and assessments to support students with special educational needs or language barriers.
    • Provide one-on-one assistance when necessary to ensure that all students are engaged and making progress.

  • Parental Communication and Involvement

    • Maintain regular communication with parents about their child's progress, challenges, and any other pertinent matters related to their education.
    • Organize parent-teacher meetings to discuss individual student progress and provide guidance on how parents can support learning at home.
    • Encourage parents to be involved in school activities, such as volunteering, attending school events, or participating in learning activities at home.

  • Collaboration with Other Teachers and Staff

    • Collaborate with other teachers to create cross-curricular opportunities and ensure consistency in teaching methods.
    • Work with school leadership, counselors, and other support staff to develop individualized plans for students with specific needs or challenges.
    • Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and staff meetings to contribute to the broader school community.

  • Student Well-being and Development

    • Foster emotional and social development by helping students build confidence, self-esteem, and positive relationships with peers and adults.
    • Address any concerns related to student well-being, such as bullying or emotional distress, in a compassionate and professional manner.
    • Encourage students to develop key life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, resilience, and time management.

Degree and teaching certificate (or B.Ed. degree)
Experience in a British or international school
Strong communication and people skills
High-level of cultural awareness and sensitivity
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and inspire young learners.
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and school staff to create a positive learning environment.
Strong listening skills to understand and respond to students' needs and concerns.
