**About the role**:
As an Associate Legal Specialist, you will be responsible for:

- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts with our suppliers and customers;
- Gathering complete and accurate information from internal departments, including the commercial, technical and financial departments in order to determine which standard contract terms and conditions should be used;
- Drafting detailed scope of works that clearly document critical items, including but not limited to the services, deliverables, project milestones and fees;
- Drafting contracts of Qatar Airways.
- Formulating/reviewing tenders and tendering/contracting policies and procedures
- Managing contracts in-life in order to mitigate the risk of disputes.

**Key responsibilities**
- Support contract evaluation, including basic cost or price analysis.
- Support tender evaluation by proposing and amending contract terms and conditions as part of the tender process.
- Draft and negotiate contract amendments and detailed scope of works.
- Gather complete and accurate information from internal departments, including the commercial, technical and financial departments in order to determine which standard contract terms and conditions should be used and assist more senior members of the team in pre-litigation matters.
- Coordinate with other departments to accomplish advance planning and ensure adequacy and correctness of contracting approach, lead-time, and specification. Confer with internal/external stakeholders to explain contract requirements and contractual interpretations.
- Formulate contracting policies and procedures. Analyse policies and procedures necessary to improve contracting process. Implement policies based on sound business practices and highest standards of ethical conduct and fiscal responsibility.
- Ensure contracting system is responsive to needs and requirements, and ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Implement internal systems and processes, manual and automated, required to accomplish and monitor the end results.
- Improve quality of contracts by understanding and modifying contractual language as necessary to protect the company’s interests.
- Identify and mitigate areas of concern affecting the contracts.
- Responsible for securely tracking and storing all contract documents.
- Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by Head of the Department.

Qualifications

**About you**:

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with minimum 4 years of job-related experience.
- Experience in contracts, legal field, preferably in the aviation industry.
- PC literate with knowledge of Word/PowerPoint/Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to influence at all levels.
- Ability to gather complete and accurate information from internal departments, including the commercial, technical and financial departments in order to determine which standard contract terms and conditions should be used and assist more senior members of the team in pre-litigation matters.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Ability to formulate and review tendering/contracting policies and procedures
- Excelllent organizational and planning skills.
- Strong interpersonal and team working skills.
- Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
- English speaking, Arabic Speaking a bonus.
