EVS Operator

The EVS operator plays a crucial role in overseeing EVS and File Server operations, along with managing playback, recording, quick-turn editing, telestration effects, and slow-motion controlled replays during both game and studio broadcast productions. Their responsibilities extend to maintaining a high level of proficiency, speed, and knowledge in the EVS system, encompassing elements such as video, animations, transitions, and more. This individual should possess a genuine passion for sports, coupled with a creative eye and a deep understanding of storytelling.

Operates EVS and file server equipment, managing tasks like playback, recording, editing, telestration effects, and slow-motion replays.

Manages video and audio routers effectively.

Proactively sells shots to the Show Producer and Assistant Director, demonstrating an understanding of the required storytelling for the production.

Executes quick-turn editing during live games and studio productions, incorporating replays, teasers, and highlight packages within the demanding time constraints of live television.

Anticipates and selects appropriate clips for editing segments, considering later airings.

Collaborates with the Show Assistant Director and remote sites to meet the video requirements of the assigned production.

Archives video and audio clips as needed to maintain an effective level of clip storage.

COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION

Collaborates closely with the EVS Technical Specialist and Senior EVS operator to deepen knowledge of file server information and advanced EVS operations.

Works closely with Technical Operations and Production (BEST) Engineering to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems in the EVS workflow, ensuring each issue is resolved comprehensively.

Assists the Senior EVS operator in creating documentation for the setup of the EVS machine workflow for the assigned production.

Qualifications & Experiences...

Possesses 7+ years of network-level broadcast production experience as an EVS Operator for live games, live remotes, and/or live studio productions.

Demonstrates knowledge of current industry standards.

Familiar with File Server operations (IP Director, XFile).

Proficient in video and audio router operations.

Capable of reading and comprehending documentation for setting up the EVS machine workflow for assigned productions.

Exhibits strong leadership skills and excellent communication abilities, conveying information clearly and concisely.

Takes ownership and accountability for assigned productions.

Possesses good computer skills, a logical approach, and a creative eye.

Can handle the pressures of live programming and limited time constraints.

Willing to work flexible, non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.
