**Job Title**: BIM Manager

A **BIM (Building Information Modeling) Manager** is responsible for overseeing the entire BIM strategy and implementation across a construction or design project. They lead the BIM team, ensuring that all processes, standards, and workflows related to BIM are followed to optimize project outcomes. The role is typically more senior than the BIM Coordinator and involves higher-level decision-making, planning, and team leadership.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **BIM Strategy & Planning**:

- Develop and implement the BIM strategy for the project or organization.
- Set long-term goals for BIM implementation across multiple projects and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
- Define the project-specific BIM execution plans, including the required level of detail (LOD) for each phase.
- **BIM Standards & Protocols**:

- Establish and enforce company or industry-wide BIM standards and protocols, ensuring consistency across projects.
- Oversee the development of BIM execution plans, workflows, and data management strategies.
- Ensure compliance with national and international BIM standards (e.g., ISO 19650).
- **Team Leadership & Coordination**:

- Lead and manage a team of BIM professionals, including BIM Coordinators, Technicians, and other specialists.
- Oversee team members' performance, provide guidance, mentorship, and ongoing professional development.
- Facilitate communication between various project teams, stakeholders, and disciplines (architectural, structural, MEP, etc.) to ensure efficient collaboration.
- **Model Management & Coordination**:

- Oversee the integration and management of BIM models across different disciplines, ensuring they are coordinated and clash-free.
- Lead clash detection, model validation, and resolution of conflicts between models.
- Manage the exchange of data between project teams and ensure that models are up-to-date and consistent.
- **Software & Technology Management**:

- Select and manage BIM software tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360) and ensure that they meet the needs of the project and team.
- Ensure all stakeholders are trained in the required tools and technologies, and provide ongoing support and troubleshooting.
- Evaluate new BIM technologies and innovations, recommending them when they can improve project delivery.
- **Quality Assurance & Risk Management**:

- Ensure that all BIM deliverables meet the required quality standards and comply with project specifications.
- Establish and enforce quality control procedures for the BIM process and data management.
- Identify potential risks associated with BIM processes and help develop strategies to mitigate them.
- **Client & Stakeholder Management**:

- Act as the primary BIM point of contact for clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure that BIM data and deliverables meet the expectations of clients, including providing periodic project updates and reports.
- Coordinate BIM processes with external consultants, ensuring proper integration of their work.
- **Training & Development**:

- Develop and deliver internal BIM training programs for staff and project teams.
- Stay current on emerging trends, software, and standards in the BIM field, and provide guidance on incorporating these innovations into projects.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in BIM practices within the organization.
- **Project Documentation & Reporting**:

- Produce and oversee the creation of reports on BIM-related performance, including clash detection results, model progress, and other project metrics.
- Document and track changes to BIM models, ensuring that version control is maintained.
- Generate reports for senior management or clients, showcasing the value added through BIM processes.

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- Expertise in BIM software (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360) and associated tools.
- In-depth knowledge of BIM standards, protocols, and processes.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing a team of BIM professionals.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex issues related to BIM integration.
- Knowledge of construction processes, design, and project management.
- Familiarity with legal aspects of BIM, such as intellectual property and contractual agreements.

**Educational Background**:

- A **degree in architecture**, **engineering**, **construction management**, or a related field is typically required.
- BIM certifications (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional, Project Management Professional) are often preferred.
- Experience in managing BIM for large, complex projects is highly beneficial.
