**Job Title**: BIM Coordinator

A **BIM (Building Information Modeling) Coordinator** is responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of BIM processes within a construction or design project. They ensure that all stakeholders—designers, architects, engineers, contractors, and others—are using BIM software and processes correctly and efficiently. Here's a breakdown of the typical duties and responsibilities for this role:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **BIM Model Coordination**:

- Manage and coordinate the creation, maintenance, and integration of BIM models across various disciplines (architecture, structural, MEP).
- Ensure that all team members are following the agreed-upon BIM protocols and standards.
- Review and resolve clashes or conflicts in models using clash detection tools (e.g., Navisworks).
- **Collaboration & Communication**:

- Serve as the main point of contact between the project team and other stakeholders for BIM-related issues.
- Promote collaboration among team members by facilitating information exchange and ensuring everyone adheres to a common data environment.
- Conduct BIM meetings and coordinate workflows between different project teams.
- **BIM Standards and Protocols**:

- Develop, implement, and enforce BIM standards, guidelines, and workflows in line with company or industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with the required level of detail (LOD) for different project stages.
- **Software Management**:

- Oversee the selection, installation, and maintenance of BIM software tools.
- Ensure all team members are properly trained on software tools and workflows, including platforms like Revit, Navisworks, and other BIM software.
- **Quality Control**:

- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure the BIM models are accurate, up-to-date, and meet project requirements.
- Review models for consistency and data accuracy, ensuring it is fit for downstream processes like construction documentation or facilities management.
- **Project Documentation**:

- Produce reports and documentation related to the BIM process, including clash detection reports, coordination progress, and compliance with project standards.
- Maintain records of model versions and updates.
- **Training and Support**:

- Provide support and guidance to team members on BIM processes and software usage.
- Offer training sessions for new staff or stakeholders on BIM-related technologies.
- **Technology Implementation and Innovation**:

- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in BIM and related technologies.
- Identify areas where new tools or practices can improve project efficiency, collaboration, and accuracy.

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit, Navisworks, and others.
- Strong understanding of BIM standards, protocols, and workflows.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of construction processes, design, and project management.
- Experience in model coordination and clash detection.
- Familiarity with project management tools and systems.

**Educational Background**:

- Typically, a **degree in architecture**, **engineering**, or **construction management** is preferred.
- Certification in BIM-related tools or processes (e.g., Autodesk Revit, BIM Project Management) can be beneficial.
