IT Data Governance Architect

About Your Job:
You will play a key role in IT in shaping data governance strategy and infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and optimizing data governance solutions that ensure data accuracy, consistency, privacy and security of Qatar Airways’ data assets. You will work with data stewards and data owners to design, develop, and implement a comprehensive data governance program that ensures the organization's data is of high quality, consistent, and compliant with all applicable regulations.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Define data governance policies and procedures that address data quality, data security, data lineage and data access to ensure data governance. Create and maintain data governance documentation, including data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
- Work with wider data governance team, develop and implement a comprehensive data governance program that aligns with the organization's overall data strategy and objectives
- Analyse data landscape and identify areas for improvement in data quality, lineage and traceability.
- Design and implement data governance policies and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Develop and maintain data governance frameworks and processes to ensure data is managed effectively throughout its lifecycle.
- Work with wider data governance teams and data owners across business units to oversee enforcement of data governance policies.
- Evaluate and select data governance tools and technologies based on business needs and technical requirements.
- Design and build data governance architecture, including data catalogues, repositories and workflow management systems
- Implement enterprise data governance solutions with features for metadata management, data lineage, and data dictionary functionalities to ensure the quality, consistency, and traceability of data.
- Manage metadata by ensuring that it is current, correct and appropriately integrated into the organization’s data governance framework.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards and data protection standards.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.
- Conduct assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement in data governance processes.
- Lead efforts to establish data stewardship and ownership across various business units.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data governance requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Train and educate stakeholders on data governance principles and practices.

**Qualifications**:
**Experience & Knowledge**:

- Minimum 6 years of experience in data governance, data management or a related field
- Knowledge of data mesh architecture
- Hands-on experience in implementing at least one enterprise data governance solutions such as Collibra, Dataplex, MS Purview, Alation, Atlan etc.
- Sound experience with data governance tools and technologies
- Proven experience in designing and implementing data governance policies and procedures
- Strong understanding of data management concepts, including data quality, metadata management, data security and privacy.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Airline industry experience though not essential would be an added advantage
- Knowledge of agile/lean development methodologies
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CDMP, DGSP, etc.) are a plus
