Mechanical Senior Supervisor

The postholder will be an experienced and skilled mechanical technician and supervisor undertakinga range of detailed maintenance activities on the Typhoon aircraft or aircraftcomponents. ​The post holderrequires an excellent understanding of the approved technical data set and iscompetent to supervise personnel carrying out maintenance instructions inaccordance with the organisation's regulatory framework. Key Responsibilities:Demonstrates adistinct ability to analyze and diagnose faults to aircraft systems, equipmentand assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures and work effectively within ateam. Provide guidance to less experienced team members in a diverse anddynamic operational environment.Undertaking detailed maintenance, inspectionand supervision activities on the Typhoon and its components. Assuring workcarried out has been completed in accordance with the work package using therelevant approved technical information. Resolving faults and maintenanceissues, including configuration managementUndertaking and complete tasked maintenance & diagnostic activitieson the Typhoon aircraft or components which may include, as appropriate,aircraft ground handling, flight servicing, aircraft role changes, componentremovals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications,replacements and/or functional/system testDemonstrate aflexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate tothe role and takes direction appropriatelyMaintain personaltask authorizations for working on aircraft or componentsEnsuring thatmaintenance is undertaken to schedule and resolve any issues, escalate asrequiredUndertaking fault evaluation and raise ad hoc work cards for 'foundfaults' during maintenanceSupervising the team to ensure thatmaintenance is undertaken to schedule and highlight any issues, escalate asrequired. Report on any impact to the wider programEnsuring that staff are sufficientlycompetent and approved for the maintenance tasks allocated to themUndertaking support tasks within theAircraft or component maintenance facility which are required to maintaincompliance with the MOE andFunctionally Mandated Procedures (FMP's) (e.g.oversight checks, control of tooling / test equipment etc.).Provide guidance and leadership to theteam. Develops team members using formal assessment processes, e.g. PDR's,supports and sponsors training requests including 'on the job training'.Demonstrates sound and comprehensive communication and people management skillsin order to exchange complicated informationAbility to scope and carry outindependent and vital inspectionsMaintaining apersonal Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency, on completion of On theJob training (OJT) activities, sign other personnel's logbooks asappropriate within your trade and skills boundaries. If you are an approveddesignated assessor, undertake authorisation and task competency approvals, andcheck Pt 145 license application packs prior to submission RequirementsCompletion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally inAeronautical Engineering or Military equivalent apprenticeship /qualifications.Academic qualification for this role is a minimum of City &Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent.Aircraft platform training (On a/c requirement)Requires a broad and in -depth productknowledge/competency within own technical/subject area.Awareness of how the team integrates with others in order to achieve theoverall objectives of the area and demonstrates an understanding of therequirement for continuous improvement and its applicationExperienced and competent leader at this level.  Requires aminimum of 2 years working at Technician level prior to undertaking aSupervisor role. Demonstrating breadth of experience, currency & recencyvia a Log Book capturing skills, knowledge and authorities for working onAircraft type or in bays. Practical experience and expertise in the applicationof aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
