Position

We are seeking a Whole School Music Teacher to join our vibrant school for the academic year 2025/26. This position offers a unique opportunity to inspire young minds, foster a love for musical expression, and contribute to the holistic development of our students within a truly international setting. Job Description

Job Title: Music Teacher (Whole School)

Accountable to: Head of Lower School

Safeguarding and Welfare of Students

Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver engaging and innovative music lessons to students across all grade levels from Grade 1 to Grade 9.
  2. Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that is age-appropriate and reflects diverse musical traditions.
  3. Plan and direct school musical performances, concerts, and productions throughout the academic year.
  4. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and musical exploration.
  5. Assess student progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
  6. Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary units and integrate music into other subject areas.
  7. Maintain and oversee the school's musical instruments and equipment.
  8. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices.

Pastoral Care

  1. Implement the Behavior Policy to drive excellent behavior in the classroom.
  2. Support the culture of high attendance and high achievement.
  3. Ensure a high level of provision for the pastoral needs and well-being of every pupil.
  4. Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies as required.

Community

  1. Be fully committed to The Experience, our broad and robust co-curricular program.
  2. Promote a positive, purposeful, professional working environment that encourages collaboration and cooperation.
  3. Develop opportunities that allow participation with the broader school community and beyond.

Teachers shall carry out their professional responsibilities, including those duties particularly assigned by the Head of Lower School as set out above but not restricted to them. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties as reasonably required by the school.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field (Teaching Certificate preferred).
  2. Three or more years of teaching music experience, preferably in an international environment.
  3. Experience with the American curriculum and inquiry-based learning is preferred.
  4. Strong understanding of child development principles and the ability to differentiate music instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  5. Proficiency in playing at least one musical instrument and basic competency in others.
  6. Experience directing student choirs, & bands.
  7. Fluency in English is required.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  9. Experience integrating technology into music teaching and learning practices to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  10. Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development, including participation in workshops, conferences, and other learning opportunities.
