Job Purpose

To lead key sustainability programs and projects in order to make Education City a leader and example of what sustainable cities can strive for in dry and arid environments.

To contribute to strategic sustainability initiatives that support the QF sustainability strategy and ambition, supporting a multiversity approach to the delivery of unified projects with cross-divisional collaboration and impact.

Key Result Areas:

  • Contribute to identifying strategic sustainability goals and aspirations that will make EC a leader in sustainability worldwide, serving as a national example, of a sustainable city in the context of Qatar's environment
  • Coordinate with and between EC ecosystem partners including COO and CD to deliver a cohesive masterplan that prioritizes sustainability goals and keeps the community wellbeing at its core and to enhance the community experience within the precinct
  • Formulate, organize, and monitor inter-connected projects aligned with the Centre's strategic objectives and initiatives; manage resources, change and risks associated with programs and evaluate programs performance to ensure the highest impact
  • Ensure program align with the global sustainable development and urban agendas, such as the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda
  • Identify and target global sustainability certifications that will set EC on a global stage and coordinate with relevant QF stakeholders to prioritize, apply and attain these
  • Assess and identify gaps and priorities in sustainability across EC to develop a framework of key priorities to enhance EC's standing as a sustainable city; propose key projects and programs to fill the identified gaps and needs
  • Identify and work with internal and external partners in the development of specialized program monitoring and evaluation frameworks
  • Monitor and evaluate prioritized sustainability programs and ensure implementation according to agreed delivery milestones
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders across QF on relevant ongoing sustainability-related initiatives, and programs as relevant, to align and amplify impact
  • Assess current initiatives at Education City that relate to corporate sustainability, sustainable urban environment, and policy advocacy, to work closely with QF departments in the development, coordination, and administration of sustainability policies and practices
  • Identify opportunities to develop and test innovative solutions within EC, working with key public and private stakeholders as relevant, such as industry / technology focused institutions (i.e. QSTP tenants, startups etc.)Work closely with QF Communication and the Director, Content Development as required to roll-out a communication plans for assigned programs and initiatives
  • Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field & 6-8 years of relevant full-time work experience, 2 of which at a supervisory level
  • Experience in project management, and proven track record in the delivery of cross-functional strategic projects
  • Experience in sustainability policymaking, outreach and advocacy is highly desirable
  • Able to engage with both the public and private arenas across many different sectors
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop productive working relationships with external organizations and internal delivery partners in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
  • Excellent understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
  • Knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles
  • Excellent verbal communication skills are essential, and the candidate should be confident, persuasive and engaging with senior decision makers
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
