About the role

As the Head of Group Payment, you will be responsible for Qatar Airways' payment policies and strategy, collaborating closely with channel owners across all channels and optimising the overall payment performance.

Accountabilities:

- Ensure low payment processing costs company-wide (target set by the Payment Committee).
- Ensure a target payment transaction processing time (target set by the Payment Committee).
- Optimise payment acceptance across all channels (target set by HGP and validate by the Payment Committee).
- Rollout new payment operating model across all regions (to do so, the HGP should be interacting with digital managers from regional SVPs).
- Continuously evaluate innovations.
- Driving cost optimization and revenue generation related to payment processes.
- Improving payment operations efficiency.
- Implementing new payment technologies/methods that best serve Qatar Airways’ interests.
- Managing contractual relationships with payment vendors/partners (e.g., focus on agreements, strategic planning, risk management and SLAs - not managing day-to-day operation).
- Creating and monitoring key metrics to assess payment vendors performance (e.g., approval rates, downtimes, SLAs).
- Ensuring a smooth transition to the new payment factory model driven by the holistic payment strategy.
- Assessing talent, tools, and processes needed related to payment function for Qatar Airways’ best interest.
- Identifying and capturing working capital benefits from payment initiatives.
- Supporting the Payment Committee in creating a holistic payment strategy and its inherent roadmap.
- Coordinating with business units' payment managers to trigger payment related projects / changes.
- Deploying payment related initiatives decided by the payment committee.
- Establish the department or teams objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
- Regularly evaluate the department or teams objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if needed.

Qualifications

About you

You will possess:

- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 10 years of job-related experience.
- 5 years in an airline management position.
- Strong background in finance roles of increasing managerial responsibility.
- Thorough knowledge of IATA / ICH / ICCS/CASS rules, regulations and procedures.
- Experience working to tight internal reporting timescales and managing responsibilities/work interruptions, while meeting deadlines.
- User level experience in any ERP.
- Experience working to tight internal reporting timescales.
- Strong developed “soft skills”, high level of integrity, open / transparent, team player.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Customer centric driven approach.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills are a must, as is the ability to work effectively across the organization.
- Must have excellent organizational ability to be able to set priorities, handle multiple tasks.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to review variances, understand business cycle and their impact on the profit and loss account.
- Knowledgeable in airline operations.
- Command of English language.
- Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel spread sheets. Good knowledge of internal finance systems.
- Should be able to analyse and explain financial accounts / Management accounts to finance and non-finance audiences.
- Must have the ability to analyse and interpret data. Must have excellent organizational ability to be able to set priorities, handle multiple responsibilities / work interruptions and meet deadlines.
- Must be self-starter and have the ability to work independently, with mínimal instructions.
- Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of records and information.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to review variances, understand business cycles and their impact on the profit and loss account.
- Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
