Job Specification

Applus+ Velosi is seeking a highly experienced Structural Engineering Lead to lead the Structural Engineering activities for the North Field Expansion (NFXP) Offshore Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring technical requirements comply with project deliverables and standardized processes, and will provide support to the NFE Offshore Engineering Manager to ensure all aspects are delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Technical Compliance: Ensure that the Contractor's Structural Engineering for Topsides, Onshore Facilities (Offshore scope) Engineering, and Gas and MEG Pipeline designs comply with the Contract requirements, including codes and standards.
  2. Guidance and Support: Provide guidance to the contractor to promote compliance and support the NFE Offshore Engineering Manager in monitoring the contractor's progress on delivery of the required documents in the Structural Eng of Topsides and Pipeline disciplines.
  3. Project Execution: Plan and schedule the Structural engineering deliverables to enable efficient project execution, ensuring technical alignment and compliance with Qatargas operational policies, standards of business conduct, and project management system.
  4. Design Workshop Participation: Participate in key design workshops and ensure that Structural design recommendations are correctly implemented and actions closed before the end of EPCI (Lessons Learned, Value Engineering, HAZOP, 3D model reviews, engineering criticality assessment, etc.).
  5. Engineering Interface: Supervise the Engineering interface between Structural of Topsides, Onshore Facilities (Offshore scope) and Pipeline engineering and the following teams: Operations, Drilling, Well Management, the Jacket, the pipelines from the topsides perspective, the Onshore Project Team.
  6. Progress Monitoring: Support the NFE Offshore Engineering Manager in monitoring the contractor's progress on delivery of the required documents in the Structural Eng of Topsides and Pipeline disciplines.
  7. Subject Matter Expertise: Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts with respect to the disciplines involved in delivery of the Structural Eng related to Topsides and Pipelines Engineering, and ensure endorsement of Process Technical deviations to Company specifications when required.
  8. Change Management: Ensure compliance with management of change procedures for changes in the contractors design or deviations from the company directives.
  9. Vendor Liaison: Liaise with vendors, sub-vendors, and subcontractors regarding structural engineering concerns as required.
  10. Acceptance and Inspection: Determine acceptability of equipment, techniques, and methods, and participate in inspections at fabrication yards and witness installation & acceptance tests.
Requirements:

Education: Engineering degree/diploma or equivalent; however, any qualification, technical or knowledge requirements may be waived through relevant work experience.

Experience: 10+ years' of relevant experience as Structural Lead in a major project environment within the oil and gas industry and having a broad knowledge of engineering execution including design standards, specifications, codes, safety criteria, offshore facilities design, construction, and operations. Previous knowledge of Brownfield engineering and execution required.
