Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Estimation and Invoicing Engineer to join our team at Taurus Contractors Pvt Ltd. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for executing our estimating and invoicing strategy, ensuring timely and effective delivery of commercial activities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Review and analyze Request for Quotation (RFQ) files to understand the scope of work and determine the appropriateness of the project.
  2. Populate the Tender Review Checklist and provide recommendations to management on bid or no bid options.
  3. Develop a thorough understanding of ship specifications and original owner specifications to create accurate project estimates.
  4. Apply a work breakdown structure to break down projects into phases, tasks, and subtasks, and create a solid project estimate and work breakdown structure (WBS).
  5. Perform estimation considering various variables, including labor, materials, and sub-contractors, to provide accurate cost estimates.
  6. Understand current market prices and competition tactics to adjust prices in consultation with management.
  7. Participate in the tender review process, reviewing accurate registration data, terms and conditions, and clause provisions.
  8. Identify sub-contractor works, review sub-contractor enquiries, and follow up on quotations and terms and conditions.
  9. Produce draft quotations, ensure work accuracy, and establish man hour reports, discount projections, and job summaries.
  10. Ensure timely submission of quotations to owners.
  11. Perform regular checks on works carried out by estimating engineers and provide guidance and training.
  12. Conduct regular meetings with estimating engineers and share lessons learned.
  13. Prepare and maintain billing files.
  14. Responsible for all commercial activities once vessels are in the yard.
  15. Attend daily on-board VSCC meetings and provide feedback/action plans as necessary.
  16. Provide quotations for additional work and submit budget updates periodically to the Owners Representative.
  17. Ensure collection of all documents and other related data for preparation of draft invoices.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by management, such as reports and statistics.

Interactions and Working Relations

Internal: Operations (Project Management & Planning), Production (Workshops), Engineering, Legal Counsel. Purpose: Co-ordinate technical inputs for estimation & contracts such as labor, materials and sub-contractors.

External: Clients & Contractors. Purpose: Marketing, estimating, business development & Billing.

Financial Authorities: As per TOFA.

Qualifications

A Degree or Diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Class 1 (Motor Ship) or its equivalent.

Alternatively, experience in on-shore and industrial engineering fabrication, design and construction activities.

At least 3 continuous years of relevant working experience in a reputed shipyard.
