About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef to lead our culinary team at Qatar Airways Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the culinary quality standards of our production, ensuring safe food production in accordance with HACCP standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to drive business growth and improve productivity, while maintaining budgeted targets.
  • Manage a team of chefs, cooks, and kitchen employees, providing guidance and support to ensure food preparation is economical and technically correct.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment and processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and manage the department's annual budget, including all functionalities, overhead, and operational costs.
  • Analyze production waste reports and food cost variance reports to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the catering-services department to develop menus and identify synergies to improve cost and staff performance.
  • Ensure timely delivery of departmental services through forecasting and planning of labor requirements.
  • Develop and implement training programs for production staff, including in-house NVQ training.
  • Implement policies and procedures to enhance and measure quality, continually updating written policies and procedures to reflect state-of-the-art techniques, equipment, and terminology.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent with a minimum of 12 years of job-related experience.
  • BS Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or AA Degree in Culinary Arts.
  • Chef by Trade.
  • Experience in a multicultural environment.
  • Culinary management experience in contract foodservice, fine dining settings, or restaurants with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control.

Job Specific Skills

  • Proficient computer skills, especially in Excel.
  • Ability to communicate on various levels, including management, customers, clients, and associates.
  • Proficient in menu development and cost controls.
  • Ability to perform various motor skills, such as lifting, reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, grasping, and arm-hand coordination on a continuous basis.
  • Ability to multitask and stay on task with constant interruptions.
  • Culinary creativity and menu writing abilities.
  • Managerial skills, including the ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Ability to train and develop subordinate skills.
  • Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
  • Ability to manage a multicultural team.
