Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality pharmacy services to patients and athletes, including dispensing medications, maintaining stock levels, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Distributing medication through the Omnicell system and assisting pharmacists with procurement
  • Participating in dispensing of medication for patients and athletes
  • Assisting the inventory officer in maintaining optimal stock levels and monitoring expiry dates closely
  • Responsible for the re-packaging of medications and preparing special formulations
  • Undertaking on-call duties for supplying after-hours medications as part of the on-call rotation
  • Assisting pharmacists in developing, implementing, and evaluating departmental policies and procedures
  • Preparing educational material for outpatient and athlete clients under the supervision of pharmacists
  • Providing practical training to new technicians and updating current skills and knowledge in relevant practice areas
  • Participating in internal or external courses/meetings as required and ensuring adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Preparing pharmacy policy and procedures and making revisions as required and instructed
  • Carrying out pharmacy-controlled drug checks under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Maintaining recording keeping of pharmacy quality records, including daily cleaning of equipment and facilities
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality and proper storage of patient prescription records
  • Monitoring drug usage and reporting to the director of pharmacy
  • Randomly auditing stock and comparing with inventory record for discrepancies
  • Ensuring efficient utilization of resources and equipment's within the pharmacy department
  • Promoting and maintaining quality in all services and ensuring continuous quality improvement measures are in place
  • Assuming or accepting any other responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor within the position role and responsibility
